Overview
"Mighty" Mickey Marciano was born to a large, poor family in Brooklyn, New York in 1976; growing up in a rough neighbourhood, he quickly learned how to use his fists in order to protect his younger siblings, becoming quite the formidable fighter in the process. He fought in both underground fight clubs and on the professional circuit for many years (even spending some time in prison after killing a man in the ring), demonstrating great athletic prowess but very achieving little in the way of fame due to his lack of media representation; he claims to have fought in over 400 bouts over the course of his career - many of them unofficial and unrecorded - with a record of 137 wins (72 of them KO's) and 16 losses.
He managed to make it through the chaos of the new millennium (though the rest of his family wasn't so lucky), surviving the Black Tide and the VITAS plague as well as the turmoil surrounding the Awakening and the subsequent rise of the Sixth World powers, but when things settled he found himself a man out of time - most of the new up-and-coming fighters were either augmented with cybernetics or gifted with fantastic magical abilities, while he was just an aging street brawler whose time in the limelight nearing its natural end. In 2021 at age 45, he finally hung up his gloves and opened a small gymnasium, content to settle into retirement and make a graceful exit from the world of professional fighting.
Spending the next 50 years in obscurity as the world continued to change around him, Mickey eventually fell deep into debt with the mob; his gym was made the target of various protection rackets, which ended up forcing him into a series of exorbitant loans in order to stay afloat. With little other choice, he re-entered the world of underground fighting by working as a coordinator for illegal fight clubs and a trainer for the combatants. Now well past his one hundredth birthday, he still holds out hope that he'll live long enough to see the rise of the next great champion.
