Summary

In order to spread their wings, Ghostwire decides to make a deal with a clinic in the Genqo Arcoblok - THE SPIRE, however the deal slips outside of his scope and he's forced by some less than reputable folks to hire runners and clean up a mess he made. His pride gets in the way and causes problems, including of which is releasing two vampires and a drake into seattle.

Background

Genqo Pharmaceuticals purchased long ago an arcology that they turned into a giant, self sustaining factory and research institute. part of that includes the Arcoblok's RED district, a portion of the arcology that has been over time turned into a large slum. Runners are called into the Arcoblok by Ghostwire, who is being strong armed into finding a way out for Celicy Vist and Ui Koori, her drake compatriot.

The Meet

The runners are met with Ghostwire at the Docks in Tacoma. He offers them medical supplies to bring to a clinic in the Genqo Arcoblok to create 'trade relations' between the clinic he works at and folk in the Arcoblok. However, more and more layers are peeled back from his story, and it looks like he was partially forced into keeping secret about the true nature of the run, in which he was forced to find runners to extract someone from inside the Arcoblok. He revealed that one of the 'medical supplies' was actually a package with armor, a gun, and a SIN to get them out of the Arcoblok. Dreading what to come next, the runners decided to go anyways, unsure of what to expect next.

The Plan

The team decides they'd sneak into the Arcoblok in Phototaxis's truck with their SINs, and then extract the target after connecting with the clinic to offer supplies. And as such, they willingly enter the maw of the beast, heading down to the RED district.

The Run

After being loaded and offloaded on Młynar's boat, the team headed into the Arcoblok, heading deep into the RED district. When they landed, they found that the clinic they were supposed to go to had since been destroyed. A bit of investigation revealed a working com code, to which on the other end answered someone from the clinic. They offered a new pickup location, and as such the runners traveled there. Upon landing, they found a hideout where the extraction target was hidden. Inside was Celicy Vist, Ui Koori, clinic staff, and a one Emily, who was dying, having been recently turned by Celicy. There was a short combat as Emily awoke, but was quickly subdued by Phototaxis' spirit.

Blackhawk interrogated and suggested they'd kill Celicy, but they affirmed that the turning of Emily was a mistake, but Blackhawk would have none of it, choosing to plot the death of Celicy, but only after the runners had escaped. Deciding to take Emily as well, the runners didn't have enough SINs to get everyone out, but found a smuggling route with a hefty 5ooo nuyen cost. Paying the cost, the runner team was able to extract, convincing the guards up top that the unconscious Emily was fine, just sleeping. After, they loaded back onto Młynar's boat to escape, returning to the docks in Seattle.

Aftermath

At the end of things, the runners are left with a sour taste in their mouth having been so badly burned by both Ghostwire and Celicy. Given the situation, they decided that perhaps lashing out in the future might be the right course of action, but for now collecting their nuyen and heading home is the best way forward.

Game Quotes

Player After Action Reports (AARs)

Blackhawk: "Too many... WHY DO THEY KEEP COMING?! Seattle isn't event aht BIG of a hotspot. I came to hunt them based on a RUMOUR. Allegedly there are more in the CFS and Asamundo YET THEY NEVER. FUCKING. END. I am at my wits end. This needs to stop. I want to show mercy. Yet if I do I know they won't to others... fuck this city."

Phototaxis: "Ahhh, ha ha haaa... what a disaster. We got paid, but poor little birdbrain almost couldn't keep his murder-boner in his pants, some poor thing became a vampire, a drake is on the loose, and worst of all, that doctoral thing tried to touch me. I'm slowly but surely learning to hate this city..."

Bunny Hop: If one more fragging Johnson acts like it's okay to risk my life and not to tell me mission critical intel, I am going to Tattletale them to Hell and introduce them to GOD, I swear. He expected us to just get there and do a new, different, surprise shadowrun? To extract a vampire from a corporate arcology!? Nevermind the drake!? I'm done. I've got better things to lose my life over. At least the check cleared.
