Summary
Nach is a desperate Barrens Rat who has managed to claw their way up the rat-pile far enough to scrap out a forgotten corner in Touristville, keeping themselves afloat largely through theft and violence—they are willing to do anything to avoid washing back out into the Barrens-proper.
They're utterly unfamiliar with the magical abilities which have allowed them to make it this far, chalking up any gleaming moments of excellence to fortuna's all-to-brief visits.
Goals
- Find a Roof: Nach's present tenement corner is a frigid spot in winter, barely managing to meet even their basic needs.
- Big Dreams: Nach aspires to carve out their own little spot of paradise. It's a dream they barely remember they have.
Background
The worst of the Sixth World has produced an individual who, at one point, lived in a state of near-catatonic paranoia. That inchoate state is yesterday's arrangement, however: Nach's continued ruminations have horseshoed them around to the point of possessing ostensibly sufficient faculties. Life has never quite gone Nach's way, as opportunities to loose their Barrens-born leash have slipped from the tips of their fingers time after time.
Most of Nach's bolt-holes sport novel bullet-hole collections in the walls by the time they have uprooted to relocated; and most of those redecorations were worthwhile additions. It's the constant vindication of their fears that keeps Nach so certain that most, if not all, of the Sixth World is out to get them. The notion that this constant vindication may be, in no small part, due to a lifetime of residence in-and-around the Barrens has never truly registered for this Rat. Well; it's been mentioned to them, generally by those sorts of 'do well-ers' who venture out to relieve themselves of their wallets and sundry goods as part of unsupervised tourist trips. They're one of the main attractions, really.
They slipped into the grungiest of Shadowrunning work near by accident, by taking on jobs for the pawn shop owner they deliver those aforementioned goods to.
Narrative Significant Qualities
- Comes From Rough Stuff (Barrens Rat, Insomnia, Disheveled) : Nach never learned how to dress themselves, and it shows. The barrens have taken their pound of flesh, too; years of exposure have left Nach in a state where true rest is never to be found.
- Haunted Glares (First Impression, Paranoia, DYJCMD?) : Their mild manner and initially attractive appearance soften first encounters... However, the longer one spends around Nach, the more off they seem to be. Occasionally, the roiling paranoia which seethes beneath the surface takes over.
- Unpredictable Approaches (Mentor Spirit: Chaos, Chaos Tradition) : There is only one way through, that of a line of flight traced by a falling leaf. Nach has more of a tendency to shake the tree itself, flooding the air with a plethora of chaotic opportunities to chase after. Certainty and stability have offered them nothing in this life.

In the Meat
This rangy young man stretches tall and coltish, his torso lengthy. Crowned with a dark shock of wavy sable locks that fall down and about his ears, his features are more oft than not cast into shadowy relief beneath them. High cheekbones and a razor jaw frame vividly hazel eyes which consider the world with a dimmed, and haunted, intensity. They set wide and large upon his fair and freckled features.
Those features are all symmetrical planes and hard edges; angular, not hollowed. His nose is upturned and sharp. Across the bridge a notch chops into a diagonal: it intersects with a faint pink scar that interrupts his right eyebrow and carves shallow across left cheek's high lifting. Coral lips purse thin and with thought.
Attired in a subpar synthwear hodgepodge, it is apparent that he both does not know how to dress and does not afford the means to acquire anything newer than third-hand.
