Character Information

Summary

Pacho Herrera is a true-to-form sicario from Mexico, hell-bent on achieving an obsesión último regarding explosives. A graduate of the Universidad de la Ciudad de México (UCM) with a degree in industrial chemistry, Pacho turned to the Bloodhounds cartel following an 'incident' involving a cargo freighter filled with ammonium nitrate-based fertilizer. His knowledge in chemistry and his newfound obsession with explosive reactions proved useful to the cartel, leading to a fulfilling career as a dramatic bomb maker and enforcer of failed intimidation. Pacho now is stationed in Seattle to make an example of a certain cliente who displeased the Bloodhounds.

Goals

- To find and exact the cartel's will onto the cliente located in Seattle for failing to uphold their end of the 'deal'.

- Seeking to improve the influence and reach of the Bloodhounds into the north, starting with Seattle.

- Religiously pursue a new chemical formula and conditions to create an explosive impact the world will not forget.

Background

Pacho's childhood consisted of toiling in the fields and pastures of his family's homestead in Aztlan. Not being the most affluent, all the children of the Herrera family worked from an early age to sustain the agricultural lifestyle. Pacho and his 7 siblings had to learn cruelties of life through the callous demand of protection tribute by the local cartel branch, of which demanded most of the profit the Herrera homestead managed to collect. Scarcity began to be prevalent as bad harvests occurred, and Pacho grew to resent his life being subject to the whims of the cartels. He sought to become someone who would call the shots, to be the stronger man, and thus dawned a drive to become superior in every way. Certain observations of the local wildlife around the homestead made by Pacho led to a major insight about arid farming, of which he would sow cacti species to store precious water and organic material. The use of these cacti as fallow for the fields of crops led to miniature oasis generation for each plot of land, leading to greater yields. Although backbreaking work, the results were enough to improve the life of his family.

The additional profits from Pacho's breakthrough afforded him a proper education within the nearest town, and he would use his time to find additional ways to improve the output of farming in the region, whether output or practices. This focus led him to become successful enough as a student to attend a major university. Specializing in agricultural chemistry, Pacho manage to get a foothold in the fertilizer industry as a researcher for more potent recipes. During his attendance, the Herrera family had begun to draw the ire of the aforementioned local cartel branch, of which the cartel demanded gradually higher tribute payments for the same protection. However, it was untold to Pacho as his family did not want to worry him. The demands became unreasonable at a certain point, forcing to Herrera family to default on payments and owe the cartel. To make an example, some gangers proceeded to massacre the Herrera family, leaving Pacho to be the last survivor and none the wary.

Coordinating the industrial-size shipment of a new prototype fertilizer, boasting an estimated 50% improved crop yield for the tradeoff of increased volatility, Pacho was stationed at on a commercial freighter port on the west coast of Aztlan. Actively ensuring that the implementation of the prototype fertilizer recipe, Pacho did not know of the danger he was in as he was targeted by the cartel. On a fateful day aboard the cargo freighter, Pacho was approached by several armed sicarios who promptly bounded and began to question him about addition tribute payments. Believing that the tribute has been covered, he began to argue with the sicarios about how the Herrera's have been faithful in their tributes. Thinking of Pacho's statements as lies, the sicarios began to attach weights to Pacho's bindings and dragged him to the edge of the freighter, amid a frantic and pleading protest. It was useless. Pacho began to reminisce of his early years and focused on his drive to become better than the bastards who have loomed over his family long enough. With words like razor blades, Pacho tore into the lead sicario's ego and purpose, stating that they will never achieve anything higher than being the lapdog of the large cartels. That sicario took those insults personally, and with a show of pride, began to light a cigar and talk face to face with Pacho. He was 'lectured' about his place as something akin to a feral dog, and that a dog who bites the hand that feeds them needs to be put down; he then proceeded to shove his lit cigar into Pacho's temple and urge the others to toss him overboard. However, the distinct mistake was made by that sicario to toss his cigar over his shoulder, unfortunately landing into the cargo compartment of the volatile fertilizer. Before the sicarios could subject Pacho to a watery grave, 'ignition'...

Beautiful images filled Pacho in those slow 2 seconds. The slowly separating limbs and head of that sicario who just branded him with a cigar. Another getting pancaked by metal panels. And above all, a divine warmth wrapping over Pacho's body, engulfing and welcoming him into a moment of catharsis, the truest form of existence, everyone separating into pieces, atoms to atoms. A final crescendo of the blaze to glory.

Awaking, serenity and bliss were experienced by Pacho, most likely the anesthetics he was pumped full of. Surgery of all things, pulverized bones, missing arms, and horrifyingly severe burns. Ejected they talk about, found by passersby in a state resembling a corpse. Pacho had the luck of surviving through his positioning being so close to the edge of the ship, being ejected onto a loading pier. His injuries resulted in Pacho needed new arms and a leg, and what would be the most excruciating pain of burns around his whole body. Pacho spent months recovering, dropping all his savings into barely passable limbs and the wall of medical bills; his mental state was deemed satisfactory to resume normal life, but unknown to medical professionals Pacho changed. From his front row seat with the mother of all explosions, he saw the truth behind life in his eyes. The consolidation of energy into life and the vibrant release of that life being broken up into its purest form. It could have been faster, it could have been more extravagant, it could have been improved...

Slumping back to what he remembered to be his homestead, Pacho was met with the charred remains of his old house and the rotting corpses of his family. He got to work cleaning up, watching the flaming pyre he had placed their bodies; Pacho was torn between his confusion of why he did not know, resentment beyond anything experienced before for the bastards who did this, and a calming soothe of the crackling flame. Memories were seen playing out in the illumination of those flames, and Pacho realized a greater truth. We all are made of a beautiful recipe, one greater than the sum of their parts, but we will never know what those parts are until we see them released one by one, through a caring flame.

Through editorial assumptions, the region where Pacho lived saw the obituaries of the Herrera family, his included. His life of normalcy was over, but his search to become superior grew into an unstoppable flame. He began to experiment with the volatility of common items and made unorthodox weaponry to eliminate the rest of the local branch of the cartel who haunted his family. The only influential member left was the main boss of the town, striking after a meeting with the next rung of the ladder.

A small church was the meeting place, late at night. Lest the house of God would watch over your safety, bask in his proverbial glory and warmth. A meeting with heightened tensions, raised voices, and disgruntled faces, Pacho did not care. The main boss who permitted the massacre of his family, marches to his car in the parking lot, gets in and pulls out his keys. Ignition... Night turned into day for a brief moment as the wreck of a car launches into the air and crashes to the ground. The higher rung of the cartel branch and his goons rush out to see the fireworks, only to see a fiery wreck still cooking ammunition off and a disheveled man laughing hysterically on a bench next to the entrance. The man had no fear that there were several goons now aiming to kill him, he only saw a glimpse and a hope of seeing that beautiful light again. The leader began to laugh that the wreckage, telling his guys to calm down. Instead of getting a back full a lead, Pacho received a job offer, an enforcer of the higher cartel; the money was good, but Pacho was excited about the chance keep searching for the perfect explosion.

Car bombs, tampered fuel lines, plane crashes, all 'accidents'. Pacho was good at making things look accidental, but was better at making a point to the cartel's rivals. Stay in your lane, lest you want to live in fear of the next object you interact with exploding in your face.

1 Always prefers the hammer to a blade when it comes to precision. Blunt, hard to read, and unpredictable when he makes jokes.
3 The Bloodhounds stationed Pacho in Seattle to settle some unfinished business. Somehow has access to legally questionable gear and hums ethnic classics when he is about to do something reckless. All his funds are for sure blood money, some even with a few dried drops.
5 The guy is bat-**** insane! He does not care for any fellow runner and will use you to get whatever ******* business he says he needs done. Probably gets a kick out of his creative ways to kill any party, particularly the uninvolved. He legitimately tried to 'rocket jump' using our target as a springboard to soak the blast. We needed that target alive...

Aspect Information Related Run(s)
Aspect 1 Searching for an individual who did not keep their end of a bargain while dealing with the cartel. MO is to make death look accidental. Target does not have identity yet, and research will be conducted to find out who this individual is.
Aspect 2 Association with the Bloodhounds down in Aztlan and Central America. May have beef with rival cartels to the Bloodhounds (Los Tres Hermanos or The Cazadores).
Aspect 3 Seeking more volatile materials to leave a mark on the world. Has accumulated a concerning number of explosives at his apartment and has fixed a Deadman's switch to the detonator.
Aspect 4 May be remembered by people who have been from the area in Aztlan and Central America. If from the same university (UCM), would know of Pacho's innovations to agricultural practices down south and may expose his identity.
