Summary

The runners get hired to wipe out some gangers in a Redmond warehouse, and take on the additional task of defeating their reinforcements as well. Everything goes pretty swimmingly, apart from Metamorphosis getting a few extra burns.

Background

Victor Vale is a barrens native with an anti-ganger streak, but he's not the most perceptive of folks. He's scraped some money together to strike at a target of opportunity, but his plans look only to the immediate battle, and not the larger war on the horizon...

The Meet

The runners meet up with the J, one Victor Vale at a closed Redmond sandwich shop east of Touristville. Victor over-enthusiastically opines about the need to drive gangs out of their positions of power on the streets, and reveals the day's target, a street gang known as Lead Rain. Lack of cleverness in naming notwithstanding, what makes them a threat is their recent alliance with Red Ledger, a larger, stronger, and more organized street gang. Without the resources to coordinate something larger, Victor negotiates with the runners, asking them to clear a Lead Rain warehouse nearby, and offers extra pay if they'll deal with reinforcements as well.

After some negotiation, and some carefully judged intentions, the runners agree to the terms.

The Plan

The runners scope out the facility they'll be hitting, a warehouse with a few guards outside and two entrances. Their plan is simple: split the team in half, with the harder targets - Mishka, Diablos, and Saint - breaching through the garage door on the side of the warehouse, while the others enter stealthily and surprise the enemy with a two-pronged attack. From there, it'll have to be played by ear.

The Run

The strike on the facility begins smoothly. The runners entering stealthily are able to do so without provoking an attack, and combat is initiated by Neznayka sending a well-aimed crossbow bolt into one of the exterior guards. Soon after, Saint, Mishka and Diablos storm the garage entrance, and Saint evades a genuinely stunning number of bullets to remain entirely unscathed. The three fall upon the gangers with a terrible fury.

From there, the pincer tactic works as planned, with Black Sabbath on standby to absorb damage, Neznayka crossbow sniping from a corner, and E.V.E. dealing with another front guard via her spurs. The gang underboss running the warehouse, is hard-pressed by a furious Saint and attempts to flee, but there's no running from an FLR, and he's chased down after making it just a little out the door.

Afterwards, the runners are left with many unconscious bodies, which they pile in the center of the warehouse. Looking through the crates stored within reveals weaponry and explosives, which they plan

The tougher runners are stationed outside the warehouse, while the more... fragile individuals take up a posting inside. Combat is initiated by the sound of engines and gunshots, as Saint is assailed by an armor-piercing burst from a faraway sniper. Two vehicles then pull into the parking lot, but while one, piloted by a rigger, is quick enough to back off from the explosives, the other isn't, and goes up in flames at the tossing of an HE grenade.

Combat ensues once more, with the majority taking place immediately outside the front of the warehouse. An enemy FLR is tag-teamed by the two runner samurai and the ever-accurate Neznayka, and they manage to shrug off repeated mana-based spells from the mage still sitting in his vehicle. Eventually, one by one, they go down - though Metamorphosis has a bit of a scare from a fire spirit materializing right next to him. He's saved by Neznayka's loyal pup, who drags him away from the danger quick as a flash.

After all is said and done, all enemies lie unconscious or dead... barring the mysterious sniper, who vanishes away to fight another day.

Aftermath

The runners leave the group of gangers tied up in front of the warehouse, and an intimidating note for good measure. Neznayka whispers something in Saint's ear, and then they go their separate ways.

In the aftermath of these events, Red Ledger has been deprived of an ally. Opportunistic as they may be, they can't react instantly... and so one part of the sprawl experiences a momentary reprieve.

Player After Action Reports (AARs)

Neznayka: очарова́тельный! While the run was simple enough, the runners were curious! I have not met another who works with animals like Metamorphosis or one who can melt through fences with his skin like Black Sabbath. He does look a great deal like that Foreman person too. The fighters were also curious. E.V.E. looked fresh-faced to jazz, a rarity here. It is not often that those made of so much iron possess such earnestness. I found her very endearing. Saint, on the other hand ... I am curious about Saint. I had met her before and sung at the heavens alongside her. Seeing her on the job is a different thing altogether. She moves like a wounded animal, like the only thing she can see is fire. I wonder if it is too late for her to see anything else ...

Saint: That was that street healer, wasn't it...? Whatever, hope those idiots got scared straight. And I hope the other ones burn in Hell. I'll do way worse to Red Ledger after I look into that pizza place... ... What do you know anyway, Neznayka? I'll burn 'em all down, and if I die before I'm done, I'll take as much as I can with me...

Metamorphosis: Well dear, that was a close one. It was nice to work with Neznayka, I haven't met many others who work with animals. Foreman seemed... interesting, he was certainly a troubled person. Saint as well, if in different ways. I had a very close call with that fire spirit, and am very thankful for the dog who rescued me.
