Summary

Warboss thinks it's funny to hire three Samurai to fight some robots in a recently re-excavated section of the Ork Underground. The robots were trapped inside, and have been attacking anyone who goes into it.

Background

NeoNet left some surprises to guard something down beneath the Ork Underground. Unfortunately, whatever it was was destroyed in the most recent Matrix crash.

King Beef Gets Arrested

Before the run, Sanjuro goes to the DA's office to pick up some mail she had accidentally sent there. While there, they ask her if she's there to report a crime, and she spills some details on King Beef's current whereabouts (an Olive Garden). Before that, outside the courthouse, she also runs into Kenneth "Flamesaw" Murphy (who has his Flamesaw encased in a KE safety lock), and asks him to stand there and watch her rat, Mr. Squiggles, for five minutes (which he performs to those exact specifications). When she leaves the courthouse Kenneth has left, but fortunately Mr. Squiggles is still there eating pizza.

Meanwhile, Crane is out buying a present for his younger sister. She likes Star Trek, so he picks up a cosplay uniform for her and does an absolutely miserable job in hiding it at home. He also accidentally sets his AR fashion to 'Star Trek: Horizon' and doesn't know how to turn it off.

Shortly after this, Black Samurai is eating lunch at an Olive Garden with King Beef when several KE Swat troops enter the restaurant and arrest King Beef (whose Agent says this will be GREAT for the ratings). They find they need bigger handcuffs, however. Black Samurai sneaks out with some bread sticks.

The Meet

Warboss has the three samurai meet near the Crying Wall in Tacoma, and tells them the situation. Newly excavated area in the Ork Underground filled with robots. He offers them 6k nuyen each, which Crane refuses. The other two know better than to ask for more money from this guy. The job is agreed to.

The Plan

Go there and kill robots.

The Run

The team spots 2 NeoNet Juggernauts hiding inside this large cavernous area (that contains the ruins of buildings). They attack! Then the THREE NeoNet Juggernauts return fire, and shortly after two more show up (apparently they hunt in packs). The Samurai are able to slice and dice their way through the robots however thanks to their powerful (mostly robotic) muscles!

Aftermath

The three Samurai make some friendly jokes amongst each other and return to Warboss, who pays Sanjuro and Black Samurai (Crane had refused payment). King Beef will have a run complication on his very next run where he'll have to break out from prison. The DA has information on King Beef as well from Sanjuro.

Game Quotes

Player After Action Reports (AARs)

Sanjuro - Oh wow, what a run! Who knew there were so many samurai at the Haven? Crane was there but there was also this guy I hadn't met named Black Samurai and he was so cool. He had like magic antlers and a magic sword and he was slicing things up and I was slicing things up, it was awesome! Crane also did some stuff too, i'm sure. What a great time! Also, the District Attorney, Mr Donaghy said I was a great help today, which i'm sure is because of my excellent personality and etiquette!

Black Samurai

I can appreciate the J's plan: drones need to be eliminated, so find the three dumbest bricks with swords and send them underground. Either you're victorious and none of your squad is smart enough to argue for more cash, or they fail and you're out about 20 minutes of meet time. Crane had a hard time today--I'm not sure if they're just, like, less strong with a blade or were off their game. Sanjuro, on the other hand, showed a lot of promise bundled up in a package of absolutely likable liability.

It's easy enough to practice your sword strokes; Crane will get there. Sanjuro needs to learn to control her emotions and strike from darkness. I don't envy the poor soul she suckers into that.
