Shipment Lost

Summary

Aztechnology hot gear gets reacquired because it became convenient again and Raven 'misappropriates' fissile fuel from the weapon batteries in the shipment for some nefarious purpose.

The Meet

Meet happens in a Tacoma strip club where an Aztechnology Johnson offers a pretty simple deal: Aztechnology sold some bootleg ware to Ares because of a shift in the markets that could've resulted in the merchandise losing value a considerable amount. Unfortunately for Aztechnology, this was just a temporary dip and their panic shorting resulted in Ares getting a steal of a deal on the shipments. Now, instead of buying it back, Azzies want the shipment back for a bargain price, paying runners to reappropriate it for dimes compared to its true value. Once the team leaves the bar, Raven sneaks up to the party and offers them a bonus deal to remove all radioactive material from the shipments into a lead container to prevent these skiving corporations from controlling so much fissile material. Tentatively, the team agrees.

The Plan

Looking through various navsofts and mapsofts, plus some contact work, the team determines that rerouting the truck off Route 5 just after it clears the Ft. Lewis border is the best course of action; once off route and on a side road, they're more vulnerable to being struck and hacked due to their security being fully automated.

The Run

The run's scouting occurs mostly without incident; despite the smoggy atmosphere, Exodus spots the convoy coming well ahead of time. The plan is for Epsilon to sneak up in the narrow alleyways and hack the truck with Skinlink to stop before eradicating the drone security elements. The combat starts rapidly as the hack fails and Epsilon's dragged along with the car. Exodus suppresses most of the rotodrones, the support Hierophant offers keeps most people alive and the Librarian blocks any calls for help the security team sends out for HTR teams, keeping the automated security stranded completely. Once the final drone falls, Epsilon manages to turn off the device and get proper control of it.

Aftermath

Both gear drops occur without too much issue, though Exodus lies her face off in convincing the Azzie J that the radioactive material was already gone when they intercepted it and Ares moves the dangerous material separately.

Player After Action Reports (AARs)

"...A UCAS spook rumored to be wanted for treason and toxic...even if I didn't see anything on her, what we did feels...risky. I need to keep my eyes on the situation going forward...Be careful in dealing with her..." - Hierophant

"Good to know Ares has no changed one bit. Curses, that's the last time I try to speak to the souls of Ares machinery. Not until I learn to treat them with the respect they deserve. I'll break them throughouly this time, spare them the horror of serving their masters." Epsilon

"Ugh... I don't trust that side job at all. This whole job smelled. A theft is a theft, though, and I'd rather only minor complications than... getting framed for murder, I guess. I'm starting to get used to the pace of this city. Even if I wouldn't call it comfortable." Exodus
