Overview
Greta Ziegler, or St1tch, is a former Otaku from the Allied German States who took to shadowrunning to support herself in the fallout from crash 2.0. Her fairly unremarkable career as a runner ended with her being kidnapped by Tamanous organleggers while walking home from a night of drinking. She managed to get a message to her fixer before being put under, but due to the secrecy of Tamanous's operations it took days for the rescue team to find her. During that time the ghouls took just about every organ she could live without, removing them with practiced efficiency and minimal anesthesia. The invasive surgeries nearly severed her connection to the resonance, and during the messy extraction that saved her she became a carrier of HMHVV. Unable to continue her career as a runner, St1tch dropped off the grid entirely.
It wasn't until 4 years later that the name began reappearing in Europe's shadow communities. It's unknown where she spent that time, or where she got the myriad of augmentations that allowed her to function as a runner again. It was the same person, but her methods and personality were noticeably different. While the old St1tch had been subtle and averse to violence, her post resurgence operations were almost excessively brutal. Rather than taking traditional shadowruns she began targeting infected organizations exclusively, dealing massive damage to the groups' various operations. In recent months she's began collaborating with the Order of the Temple, and has come to Seattle to assist with purging the city of infected. Despite her augmentations, she's reemerged as a more powerful technomancer than she's ever been. Is it because of her vendetta? Her augmentations? Or maybe, the taint of dissonance at the edges of her aura? Who's to say, really?
Traits
St1tch is soft spoken, professional, and distant. There's something missing in her personality, a part of herself lost during her time in the Tamanous chop shop. She's driven by an obsessive hatred of the infected, and wishes to purge them so that no one will ever have to go through what she did. A hypochondriac, she's fixated on the idea that both the infected and the world are "dirty". When on the matrix, she can frequently be found re-arranging things to fit her vision of cleanliness. Although typically very composed, when confronted with the subjects of her hatred she'll occasionally lose control of herself. She firmly believes that the ends justify the means, and as such can be exceptionally brutal in her methods. On the very rare occasions that she talks about something other than work, she'll reveal an extensive knowledge of old trideo talk shows.
Appearance
In meatspace, St1tch is a thin, olive skinned elf of average height. Most of her face (eyes, ears, tounge, etc) has been replaced with cybernetics, and the tissue that's left is heavily scarred. She typically covers her body in thick clothes and gloves, paranoid about infecting others with the disease they carry. They're never seen in person without a bottle of disinfectant.
On the Matrix, St1tch's persona is an extremely tall, gaunt elf wrapped in bandages. They wear a simple black monk's robe, and have patchy brown hair on the top of their head. Underneath the bandages and robe is an aura of jagged static, which serves as the base for all of her resonance actions. She's almost always flanked by her fault sprite, a twisted golem in an iron mask that carries an oversized stake. The same static on St1tch seeps out from under the sprite's mask.
Aspects Description
Aspect | Description |
---|---|
Vendetta | St1tch hates the infected with a burning passion. Every time this contact learns that a character has helped an infected group, decrease their loyalty by 1. If loyalty drops to 0 in this way, St1tch consider the character an enemy and become actively hostile. |
Dissonant Static | While she's normally quiet and professional, the taint of dissonance in St1tch's aura occasionally rears its head. When calling this contact, the GM rolls 1d6 in secret. On a 5 or a 6 St1tch will become agitated, aggressive, and volatile. Any checks not relating to the purging of infected will cost 50% extra and take a -2 dice penalty. In addition, any active checks will be performed with little to no regard for subtlety or collateral damage. If the player argues with St1tch or questions their methods, they must either take a chip or lose 1 loyalty with the contact. Loyalty lost in this manner also counts towards the "Vendetta" aspect. |
Clean Body, Clean Soul | St1tch is a carrier of HMHVV, and is extremely cautious about preventing infection. She will not meet in person for anyone below loyalty 4, and will absolutely refuse to go anywhere with a large number of people. She's a hypochondriac, and carries around cleaning supplies to disinfect nearly every surface that she touches. Any active checks made in meatspace will take a -4 due to the difficulty of staying clean in a city as dirty as Seattle. |
For the Greater Good | St1tch's goals go far beyond a simple desire for wealth. If called upon to assist with something that will harm an infected group, they will provide their services for a 50% discount |
Know Your Enemy | To destroy a group, you must first know how they operate. St1tch's extensive research gives her +2 on any knowledge checks relating to infected physiology or society. |
Datahaven Membership | Despite spending 4 years off the grid, St1tch still keeps several contacts in various datahavens across the matrix. She gains +2 to knowledge checks for illegally acquired or deliberately suppressed information. |
Spiteful Sprites | St1tch is a technoshaman, and can provide a wide array of sprites to help with whatever you're doing. The maximum level of the sprite is the same as a character's loyalty with the contact, and their number of services is equal to the number of hits St1tch gets on their active check. St1tch is well aware of how rare this skill is, and will charge for her sprites accordingly. |
Field Medic | Back when she was a runner, St1tch acted as a field medic for her teams. Now that she's a carrier, she refuses to get near open wounds unless absolutely necessary. That being said, the knowledge she gained hasn't gone away. She gains +2 to knowledge checks related to medicine or surgery. |
The Enemy of my Enemy | A crusade makes for strange bedfellows. Although St1tch has nothing but contempt for groups like the Troll Killers and Alamos, the reality is that they're more willing than most to help on her mission. Useful tools, if nothing else. She gains +2 to knowledge and networking checks related to the operations of such groups. |
Spick and Span | Thanks to her condition, St1tch has become well acquainted with the various cleaning tools that the sixth world has to offer. She gains +2 to any knowledge checks made regarding cleaning or sanitation, up to and including disposal of bodies. Gotta get those stains out, omae. |
Temple Collaborator | Although not religious herself, St1tch has a history of collaboration with the Order of the Temple. She gains +2 to knowledge and networking checks relating to the organization, but will not share any compromising details with people below 5 loyalty. |
Trid Enthusiast | One of the only remnants of the old St1tch seems to be her encyclopedic knowledge of trideo shows. She gains +2 on all knowledge checks relating to them. Everyone's gotta unwind, if only just a little. |
