Summary
The Archaic Society (also known as the Antiquated Society, or Quintism) is the unified label for high-class ideological societies across the UCAS and the Confederacy. Each location's theme is derived from an era of the Fifth World important to the pop culture in that location. The societies themselves idealize the Fifth World— most often the 20th century, though not always— as the peak of human achievement, considering anything past the 20th century and the Sixth World as a whole to be a mark of devolution; something often blamed on the Japanese due to their technological advancements and corporate overtaking. Different sects have various marks of extremism and traditionalism, with the New Orleans location being the most extreme due to their various biases influenced by the Prohibition Era. Despite their members often being first class, there's also an anti-corporate ideal that lingers amongst many of them due to their influence on national politics. Due to their ideals, most members of TAS don't utilize most aspects of high technology. They namely use very basic AR needed to survive, as well as the occasional slot for BTLs.
Goals
Preserve Fifth-World history
The Archaic Society, although differing in ideals between each sect, will ultimately be unified in one goal: preserve the history of the Fifth World. They dedicate much of their funding to the preservation of historical buildings, as well as museums that hold artifacts related to the Fifth World. Every location has a set of archivists dedicated to seeking and looking after history for the Fifth World and history within their own sect.
Keep future generations from the use of AR, trideo, or the Matrix
As future technology grows, TAS members often stick to only what is absolutely necessary. Most members will only have basic AR needed to survive, as well as the occasional slot for BTLs. Old technology stores are hotspots for Quintists, being a meeting place and a recruitment center for people they believe the Society would benefit from. As a result, funnily enough, many members were just people with SimSense Vertigo.
Promote the "traditional family structure"
Most notably in the New Orleans sect, many TAS members uphold what is considered the traditional or nuclear family structure. Though this mainly means two parents and three kids, some sects are more extreme: no interracial, gay, or open/polygamous marriages. This goal is often what is criticized about TAS, but that doesn't mean every member of TAS follows this rule; sometimes, like in the Manhattan sect, it's the exact opposite.
