GM Style Sheet: It's a Mad Mad World and We're Mad to Love It
I have loved the Shadowrun universe for some time now. It's such a fun setting with fun themes to explore. I aim to explore these themes in a fun and safe environment and in a way that allows us all to have a lot of fun.
I want things to feel like a story, so keeping things moving is very useful. Everyonr knows there is nothing shorter, IC than combat, and there is nothing longer OOC, than combat. I encourage you to spend time before your turn in combat thinking about what you will do and looking up any references needed. If you have your turn pre-planned and can simply make the rolls necessary, give yourself an additional +1 to one roll that turn of your choice. And thanks for reading my style guide.
My general guidelines are:
We are here to have fun
This can mean a few things. First, player safety os very important at my table. All Roleplay Safety systems are active on my table. I encourage their use if you are uncomfortable with any situation occurring. I also read your character wiki pages, so any lines or veils placed on those will be taken into account during run planning and/or character picks.
We are here among friends
Until you prove otherwise, I consider you a friend. Which means we are working together to make this a fun experience for everyone. Give everyone a chance to shine at the table. I try my best during picks to make sure everyone will have their moment, but sometimes I can miss it.
We are here among peers
Treat everyone at the table with respect. That includes me, as well as your fellow players. If someone is talking, do not cut them off. At the same time, also try not to dominate the conversation. Maybe you do have a good idea, but the best ideas O have seen in a game have been a combination of multiple plans that utilize everyone's strengths. You know your character best, and your coworkers know theirs.
We are here to tell a story
Shadowrun is not a combat simulator. If I wanted that, there are a thousand computer games I could play. Please bring your character's history, personality, quirks, moralities, etc. to the table with you every time. And, while I try to account for character history and qualities to enrich storytelling during my picks, you are the one that knows your character best. I encourage you to look for extra RP opportunities I may not have thought of and have fun interacting with your fellow runners.
