Summary
Lab experiment, former French Foreign Legionnaire, holder of regret and ego in equal measure.
A spotter for all those sniper runners - the devil on your shoulder, guiding your aim. Support mage.
Goals
- Support Angel no matter what.

Background
Grown in a batch with several other French maidens, Devil (chosen name Claire LeNoir) was built to be a pretty soldier for Ares' propaganda machine at the Ares Global Media headquarters in Paris. The program was biologically a success - pain editor software and the ability to control pheromones made for a potent combo, creating a group of potential starlets. The problem, of course, with creating a group of elves designed to be capable of emotional manipulation who don't feel pain is that the majority of the batch turned sociopathic to one degree or another. Their handlers were unwilling to combat this - viewing the "competitive" environment as a good thing for culling weaker individuals from the pack.
And then shadowrunners broke into the facility.
Several of the group were broken out and taken into the shadows of Paris when a group of runners hit AGM. But the runners quickly found that a half dozen semi-sociopathic children with pain editors and tailored pheromones were too much for them to handle. Thus did a half dozen valuable prototypes get dumped out into the streets of Paris.
Devil struggled in the streets for most of her childhood. When she met another young woman like her though, she found a way into another life - one that she was built for. Soldiering with the French Foreign Legion. She chafed against the order-following mentality they pushed, but at the end of the day she found that this was one of the few places her skills served. In the service, she served primarily as Angel's spotter - providing overwatch and buff spells.
The pair were part of an operation which went wrong. While Angel did what she does best, Devil argued with superiors - whose failure to comprehend the situation on the ground resulted in a great deal of unnecessary death.
And, finding that nobody would listen to her clearly superior opinions, scarred into certainty that she can't trust organizations like that again, she deserted with Angel. The pair fled from regions France had control over - across the Atlantic, then across America to Seattle, on the opposite side of the world. Time on the road has seen her go back to starving - well, that and the regret about what happened making it hard to eat - to sleep, to continue. But she'll manage, somehow. She always has.
Narrative Significant Qualities
Positive
- An Expensive Experiment (Prototype Transhuman, Restricted Gear) - Devil was grown to be the perfect propaganda soldier. This follows her to this day - and she knows her siblings are out there somewhere, too. It's not a comforting thought.
Negative
- France Hater (Flashbacks I, Big Regret, Emotional Attachment, Prejudiced) - She'll never forgive the organization - or the country - that ordered her to do those things. They'll follow her for the rest of her life. She can't even sleep without her rifle in her arms. God forbid anyone finds out.
- Illiterate - Devil was turned out into the world unable to read, a consequence of incomplete training, street life, and diving directly into war. The squad she signed up with covered for her to a large degree - and by the time her superiors found out, it was too late to throw away a mage they'd trained up.
- Wanted - Ares Global Media would still like their propaganda soldiers back. It isn't too late to retrain them, especially the rare ones which awakened.
