Judas Foreman knows he's not a real person. He hears the whispers in his head, an identity that he cannot make any sense of and the hunger that gnaws at him from within. His body falls apart at a cellular level, hold together only by his constitution. Despite the urges in his mind and soul, he attends critical care and sick wards, taking on the pain and suffering on others to see life flourish. He finds medical science utterly fascinating and wants to learn more, only the more influential the people are that he meets, the less they want to deal with him.
Whispers. Thoughts in his mind that do not belong to him. These are the everpresent companions Judas Foreman lives with. They're at the edge of his consciousness, wisps of smoke that barely breach the dark beyond his awareness. His body is an improvement on natural selection, this much he is aware of. His blood falls apart, bones crack and heal, organs wrench and break. The pain he feels within is a welcome distraction to the maddening silence in his mind and a past that he cannot remember but weighs on him at all times. When his body recovers and heals, he seeks out more suffering. He doesn't know why, but all agony feels deserved, earned. The people he visits in critical care and SINless warrens are innocent most of the time. His touch heals most and makes them jump with joy, yet he can't feel happy about any of it.

There is a darkness in his mind that he cannot recognize. Whatever the circumstances are for his existence, the lack of a childhood and a blank canvas for a life, he is both terrified and desperate to learn it. What if the sinking feeling in his gut is a subconscious disgust at what he did or was? What if he was a hero? The fear of reaching out and pulling the cloak off the unknown stops him from changing. He feels like an abomination even among his own kind without understanding why and the sleepless nights he goes through are filled with torment that oblivion claims come evening and wakefulness.

Work beyond law has its own reward. He keeps everyone that works with him alive, thrusts himself into the deadliest melees and bears the burden of others without complaint. It's a stigma that silences the constant guilt he feels and offers something he's too much of a coward to do himself. Death.

Background

Death.
