Summary
Formerly a small-time DJ by the name of "Eel Juice", Valerie Heinkel's life was forever changed by a single, NovaCoke filled night with her partner. The two decided to open up a club and took out huge, questionably legal loans in order to do so. Their pride and joy, "Mudpit", collapsed in about six months. Whether this was due to the unflattering name or its owners complete lack of competency, none can say. Valerie insists on the former. Newly-unemployed and desperate to keep her fingers attached, Valerie took to the shadows under the name "Strobe"; as a shadowrunner, she applies her lifelong passions of street racing, mechanics, and lying to cops in order to pay off her and her partner's debts. Also, she might be a little addicted to the adrenaline. And NovaCoke.
Goals
Strobe's main goal is to pay off her and her partner Eliza's many, many debts. She's in deepest with Dane, her mafia-connected fixer. Her secondary goals include reviving her DJ career, winning street races, getting another LED tattoo, and tricking out her car as much as possible.
Background
Early Life
Valerie Heinkel was born on June 7th, 2057 to a family of Stuffer Shack franchise owners in the Seattle Metroplex. Valerie spent much of her early life stealing electronics and flunking out of school, and quickly decided that she had no interest in carrying on her parents' Stuffer Shack legacy. She wanted to be a musician. Her growing rap sheet and gender transition strained her relationship with her parents, and at 17 she moved into a flophouse full of other aspiring musicians. She spent the next five years working odd jobs, getting into street racing, and building a moderate following as the technopunk DJ "Eel Juice".
Musical Career
Valerie's loud, heavy synths and over-the-top performances made her a regular in Seattle's underground nightclub scene. She performed under the name "Eel Juice" and used sketchy, DIY contraptions to aid in her live performances. Her crowning achievement is what she calls the "Zap Tube", a thoroughly scuffed drone attachment that creates a lightning-like trail in the air behind it. Although she never saw commercial success, her song "Analog Concussion" did get some limited play over Seattle's radio stations. Valerie sees this as her worst song, and is incredibly mad that it's the only one people know her for. During her DJing career Valerie met her partner Elize, a bartender at one of Valerie's favorite clubs. The two connected over their shared love of loud synths too-tight leather pants, and soon decided to take their relationship to the next level: opening a club.
The Rise and Fall of Mudpit
The idea for Mudpit was born in a passionate night of NovaCoke and how-to videos. The plan was perfect: Valerie would play the music and Eliza would sling the drinks. Sure, there were probably a few other things that went into running a club, but they could figure those out along the way. After an influx of cash that may or may not have come from the mafia (the pair were VERY confident in their plan), Mudpit opened its doors for the first time to a resounding "meh". As it turns out, running a club is hard when you've inherited the business sense of two Stuffer Shake franchise owners. The complete lack of organization, bookkeeping, and adherence to health codes brought the club down in about six months. Mudpit left this world the way it came into it: in a haze of acrid smoke and poor life choices.
The tragic fall of Mudpit presented a problem for the couple, namely the massive debt that they had run up with Seattle's mafia. In order to prevent getting tossed into the pacific with concrete around their ankles, Valerie needed to find a way to make money fast. Luckily, it turns out that the ability to drive really fast is a high demand skill in the world of shadowrunning. It may have a higher body count than most street races, but Valerie believes that life is meant to be grabbed by the horns. If that means getting bucked off into a concrete divider once in a while, so be it.
Personal Life
When she isn't paying off debt, Valerie spends time hanging out with her partner. Despite everything that's happened, the two have a pretty solid relationship. They make music, watch trid, and go to clubs whenever they can. Eliza is back to bartending, lacking any real skills that she could apply as a shadowrunner. They've both accepted the risk that comes with Valerie's new profession; they got into this mess together, and they're gonna get out together or die trying. Other than her partner, Valerie has a number of friends in Seattle's music and street racing scenes. She hasn't talked to her parents in three years, and she plans to keep it that way.
Narrative Significant Qualities
Positive
Fame: Local (Seattle): Strobe enjoys a small amount of fame as the Technopunk DJ "Eel Juice". She was a one hit wonder on Seattle's local radio.

Appearance
Clothing
Bright colors, tight leather, and heavy boots. Fond of hunting through thrift stores for the most garish clothing she can find. Putting on makeup calms her down.
