Overview
Pelican is an independent smuggler who does work all up and down the Pacific, not bound by any syndicate or organization. He's a cheerful go-getter who's always happy to lend a hand... for the right price. Just don't get caught between him and his rival.
Personality
Pelican values his freedom to take whatever jobs he wishes, and while he's happy to take any job occupying a week or so of his time, any longer than that and he gets antsy. He's competent when it comes to all things mechanical, but considers himself above rote repair jobs. His accent is ambiguously american, but should be somewhat grating. When it comes to his rivalry with the smuggler Scarab, he seems almost self-contradictory, railing against the sneaky underhanded bastard who nearly cost him his prize airplane one minute and forbidding anyone to touch the man the next minute.
Aspects Description
Aspect | Description |
---|---|
Vehicular Vendetta | Pelican has an archenemy, the smuggler Scarab. Every time Pelican is brought in by a PC for any active check or gear acquisition check, roll 1d6 in secret. on a 1, Scarab has chosen this time to strike! While neither smuggler will bring in any outsiders into their conflict, Scarab still has plenty of resources at his disposal. This will usually take the form of an attack on Pelican's vehicle(s), theft of his property, or framing him for some sort of crime, but can be other things depending on what would make sense in the situation. While Pelican is too stubborn to call for help, if left unassisted he won't be able to complete whatever service he was called in for, and the PCs may be dragged in anyways depending on the circumstances. |
Master of the Skies | +2 dice for any check involving piloting or procuring aircraft. |
Signature Drone | +2 dice for any check involving the Renraku Pelican drone model, whether it's piloting one, attacking one, getting mods for one, or looking for one. Additionally, he has enough pelican drones stashed around the city to be able to supply the PCs with a stock model pelican within an hour, even if he's busy or unable to deliver it in person. |
Smug Smuggler | +2 dice for any check involving smuggling routes or smugglers. |
Close Air Support | As a service, Pelican can use his modded Cessna as a makeshift gunship and provide a strafing run or suppressive fire. Due to the severe illegality and danger of this act, this should be costed appropriately in nuyen, chips, and/or RVP, and he is never willing to perform this favor more than once in a run. Because he's a person that exists in the world and not just a button in a hotbar, this isn't something you can just do on command, so make sure to check in advance if he's available to bring the hurt on whoever ticked you off. +2 dice for vehicle-mounted weapons. |
