Overview
Ana Laguna was once a Laguna Pueblo simsense star in the making, one of Horizon’s slate of potential “Next Hits” for 2080. But tragically Ana was jacked into the Matrix when her block in Los Angeles suffered a major cyberterrorism attack. Violently disconnected, brain damaged from the dumpshock, she soon developed the terrible tell-tale symptoms of AIPS, Artificially-induced psychotropic schizophrenia syndrome. Her corporate health plan with Horizon afforded her the best treatments, including a slate of suppressants that help her manage her hallucinations and seizures…but the drugs prevented simsense technology from getting a commercially-viable recording from her simrig.
Falling into a deep depression at her future being robbed from her, she sought vengeance on those that had inflicted AIPS on her. With the help of a fellow Horizon corp-cit turned private investigator she was able to find the cyberterrorists who damaged her brain and inflict street justice upon them.
Finding that her dip into the shadows suited her personality just fine she has become a fixer, slowly growing her portfolio of runners over time while continuing, half-heartedly, with her corporate day job as a talent scout.
Having convinced her superiors to station her in Seattle she has turned all of her attention, sharp mind, and passion to the shadows.
Aspects Description
Aspect | Description |
---|---|
Hatred of Black Hats | Ana hates all Matrix gangs and cyberterrorists with a burning passion. Every time she learns that a character has knowingly aided one of those types of groups, decrease her Loyalty by 1. If Loyalty drops to 0 in this way, Ana considers the character an enemy and becomes actively hostile. |
AIPS | Ana is taking powerful medications and continues experimental treatments to deal with her AIPS. She will never meet in the Matrix via VR, does not use AR, and will require visiting players to disable all their wireless gear in her presence to ease her symptoms (mild as they may be with her current treatments.) Characters may normally only communicate with her in person but characters with Loyalty 4+ may communicate with her via commlink audio/visual call. |
People-Person | Ana Laguna is good in a room (just not a Matrix room.) She’s enchanting but also sensitive to introverts and the shy. It’s impossible not to remember her after meeting…she has that rarest of star qualities. (+2 dice to all Social Active Tests and Networking checks) |
Fiercely Loyal | Ana Laguna’s fall from the edge of stardom weighs heavily on her. As does the way, in her mind, Horizon brushed her aside when her earning potential plummeted. She refuses to live a life of callous, corporate, disregard. For those who have trusted their faith in her she is fanatically committed to their success and well-being. (+2 dice to all tests for characters that have a Loyalty of 4+) |
Corporate Comfort | Ana Laguna might have left the jet-set life behind, but she knows the players, and knows them well. (+2 dice to all tests involving A, AA, AAA, and nation-state corporations) |
Horizon’s The Limit | Though she is resentful of Horizon she is still, much to her chagrin, a loyal corp-cit. Since being acquired from the PCC she’s lived the Horizon life as fully as one possibly could, and has old friends and contacts throughout the corporation all around the world. (+2 dice to all tests involving Horizon) |
PCC Preferred Stockholder | Ana Laguna’s roots are in the PCC. Her people are still there, along with her childhood memories and connections that survive her transition to Horizon. Horizon might have been her future, and the shadows her current playground, but the Pueblo Corporate Council is where her heart and soul remain. (+2 dice to all tests involving the Pueblo Corporate Council) |
