The Run

'Twas the night before Christmas, or few off I am told
Carly Reeves is reporting on the scene with Bold;
The city is in chaos, as he runs to the frays
Of rioters with flamethrowers, setting all ablaze;
Her 'copter is downed, a stray rocket I guess;
She calls for some runners, to help her big mess;
Trash Panda freaks out, and dons her costume,
CAPTAIN FREEFALL is inbound, as his Dustoff goes zoom,
Spider and Frag Face and Crusader as well,
all answered the call, and road towards this hell.
Away to the scene, everyone went,
to look out for Carly and pick up her scent.
The crash sight was ugly and things looked quite bad,
Until the team arrived, and healed her a tad,
An argument started- who is this Girl,
And Trash Panda lied, but wanted to hurl,
"We have to go now and we have to go fast,
Forget all of that- the danger's not passed."
Without warning they came and closed in from all side,
With no places to run and no places to hide:
"WE FIGHT FOR THIS DAY, FOR JUSTICE YOU SEE,
WE FIGHT FOR THE BRAVE, THE PURE AND THE FREE!
INTO THE FRAY, WE SWING MIGHTY FIST!
AND TO DUST THEY SHALL CRUMBLE- EGADS - WHAT A TWIST!"
Corpse Cadavers they were, armed to the bone,
Raised by dark magic, and mages unknown;
And through the waves, the team they did fought
To break through the wrath, that someone had wrought—
And finally the lines, the team had broke through,
Escape was so close, for the whole crew.
But knowing what happened, they all stuck around,
And looked into the astral, to see what could be found.
The cadavers were falling, they popped out with a wink,
And KE with City Watch were breaking the link;
They could not be tracked to their source and master,
Their summoner not found, the source of disaster.
But Carly was safe, the job was completed!
And Trash Panda returned to her body defeated.
Carly wanted to talk, an interview of sorts,
To ask Raccoon Girl questions, of her and cohorts;
She agreed with unease, just wanting to go,
But she knew it'd be dangerous to say to her no;
CAPTAIN FREEFALL stood smiling, he thought it was fine,
He had faith in Raccoon Girl, and believed every line.
She was frazzled and nervous, a right hyper young elf,
And laughed when challenged, in spite of herself;
With Carly secure, the team would soon leave,
And settle in back home, to enjoy Christmas Eve;
But in time a comm rang, it was now time to talk,
Of the mysterious new hero, who appeared on the block,
Trash Panda was worried it would all fall apart,
It was a bad idea she knew, it was not very smart;
She sat down with Carly, prepared to come clean,
In exchange for discretion, she'd share what she's seen.
But Carly smiled and spoke, and she would quickly exclaim—
“Your secrets safe with me; It's part of the game!”
