She was out on assignment with her HTR team and MK had taken a major wound, a bullet near the top of her neck. One of her team had been a runner and knew a street doc that could save her. They took her there where the doc quickly went to work. It wasn't long before the surgery was done. When she woke up, she was back at Neonet. She was wanted for a while until NeoNet fell and that portion of her record was lost. Now, with them out of the picture, she is free to operate a little more freely. SpinGlobal did acquire the HTR subsidiary she was run through, so they do have her records on file. Contrary to popular belief, she did not kill her team when fleeing. She is, however, an effective mage killer, but does not hate mages any more than anyone else.

Background

Kelsey was living in the streets. An early life victim of surge, her catlike qualities and "roll with it" attitude helped her to survive. When she was a teenager, she was camped in an alley near a Neonet facility. A corp mage came to investigate a growing background count. What they found was a teenage girl with a knife who was a lot harder to knock down with magic than she ought to be. After investigating her strange powers, they subjected her to numerous experiments to draw out more of her potential, replaced her limbs with cyberware and trained her in various methods of fighting. While training, she was given the designation MK I. She took the moniker MK, and was known as the "Mage Killer." The intent was to have an on-call anti-mage fighter. She went along with it, partially because it wasn't worth resisitng, partially because it was better than life on the streets was, but, mostly because there was a bomb in her head.

Her teammate, the former runner, showed her the disarmed kink bomb that the doc had removed from her. He confessed his feelings for her. They had his brother, so he had had to do this much, but had not reported the removal of the bomb. She had the choice to stay with him and be happy, or to knock him out and leave. She promptly knocked him out, re-armed and planted the bomb in the manager's office, then ran. When they found out she had fled, they triggered the bomb, which led to the manager receiving some injuries (he did not, however, die).

Narrative Significant Qualities

SURGE: She has a few cat-like qualities, but is more recognizable for her strong astral presense, having both a constant background count around her and the Arcane Arrester quality

Alpha Junkie: Like a cat, she does not follow directions well.

Bad Rep: The story that she killed her HTR team on fleeing NeoNet chases her, although it isn't true. The moniker "Mage Killer" also follows her, and while her skills are geared that way, she is not prejudiced against awakened in any way.

Critter Spook: Other critters (she often considers herself an animal) are not comfortable around her and generally do not liker her.

Records on File: SpinGlobal bought the subsidiary that owned her previous subsidiary. Somewhere, they have a file labeled "MK I" with her information on it.

3 hits Word of mouth accounts of MK, commonly called "Mage Killer." Rumors say she is heavily chromed, can take more than a few bullets, and that magic bounces off of her.
4 hits An old picture of MK in her HTR uniform, her moniker MK stitched into the shirt. She seems happy with her team. You also uncover reports that her team was killed and that she was the sole survivor. Rumors abound that she killed them.
5+ hits You uncover rumors of the MK I program. The primary source was a journal, since deleted, that is discussed among some SURGE fearfuls and some hopefuls, as well as occasionally referenced by more teputable sources. It details a girl who held several anti-magic properties being discovered and taken in, then her abilities expanded. This gave birth to several possible methods of increasing the effectiveness of SURGE experiments. This data seems to have been lost with the fall of NeoNet, although it may exist in an archive elsewhere. Rumors abound about a MK II....

Appearance

With cat ears, eyes and tail, she strongly resembles a sterotypical anime catgirl. She has naturally blonde hair that she keeps cut medium-length with ears covered in a similar colored fur. Her tail, though it serves no function, is covered in the fur as etwell. She wears her hair down most of the time, but puts it up in a ponytail when she goes on missions. She has 4 cyberlimbs, colored black.

Clothing

Despite her luxurious lifestyle, she tends to dress what many might call inappropriate, although not many in the 6th world judge. She spends a lot of her time lounging by the pool in a bikini and might bother to put on shorts when leaving the house on off days. When she goes for a meet, she dresses a little more conservative, putting on dark, fitted pants and a tank top. She will carry her jacket over her arm for a meet, allowing her to show off the chrome during a meet, which has often been used as a setpiece during negotiations, then dons her jacket immediately after the meet. During a run, she wears her ballistic mask which has an AR overlay of a cat face emoji which sometimes changes for her emotions (angry cat face emoji, silly cat face emoji, etc.)

Matrix Persona

Her matrix persona is a blonde cat wearing a regal robe and crown. Like MK IRL, this persona is often seen lounging around.
