Character Information
Summary
A warrior afflicted by what she once swore to protect the people from. A chivalrous soul who, having abandoned the iron fist of her previous allegiances, seeks to lend a sword to anyone facing a tyrant like the one that left her to die.
Goals
- Acquire a means of sustaining her new existence without hurting anyone that didn’t deserve it
- Locate her sire, and deal with them accordingly
- Defeat the old King Mungo in single combat, mostly to prove that he’s not the unkillable monster her people know him as
- Uphold her honor, as a matter of course
Background
The one known today as Lady Argentum was in fact born Charles Kuhn (nickname Charlie) to a couple of recently-escaped convicts in the early years of the Crash Zone. The place quickly reorganized into something resembling feudalism, and little Charlie was pretty much immediately pressured into learning how to fight. It’s still largely prison culture, top dog is whoever can kick the hardest ass, so naturally many of the kids got into fighting at a young age. Charlie, being an elf, respectfully should have gotten summarily dunked on constantly, but for some goddamn reason this kid was stronger than the majority of his peers and just kept winning. So, as the micro-state developed, Charlie quickly slotted himself into a growing order of warriors ostensibly following the chivalrous tenets of old - though, really, their loyalty lay with newly-crowned King Mungo. His stipend was never quite enough for augmentations, but that didn't matter - he'd Awakened in his early teens, and by twenty was already respected among his varyingly chivalrous peers.
As an aside, it was around this time that he met someone who was there for a trade agreement with Mungo and happened to be a trans man. Charlie had just kind of never considered the possibility before, but over the next year ended up deciding to transition, and so she spent basically all of her income on coordinating with a street doc from Seattle proper to get the necessary medications delivered into the Crash Zone. She actually largely kept her name, since basically everyone she usually talked to used Charlie anyway, and she didn’t want to step too far out of line with a drastic change (though nowadays she prefers the name on her fake SIN).
Fast forward to mid 2084. Charlie was a figure of some prominence within Mungo’s cadre of personal goons. She was known throughout the small kingdom as a proficient warrior, a lady of her word, and generally someone you point your kids to and go “look, you should try to be that”. Granted, her fellow paladins disagreed with following that honor code quite so intensively (with most of them being some form of corrupt), didn’t like being outshone by her, and frankly, some of them just hated that the elf lady was somehow stronger than a good chunk of the orks in the knighthood. Thus, Charlie felt more than a little alienated, but that never stopped her from sticking to her oaths, fighting for her fellow warriors, and serving King Mungo. Not that her loyalty helped her, in the end.
August 17th, 2084. A string of disappearances in the southwest edge of the kingdom is linked back to a specific house where a few of the missing persons have allegedly been seen walking in and not coming out. Mungo's chivalrous cadre is sent to investigate and, with any likelihood, clear the place out. Unfortunately, due to some terrible situational awareness and the general gung-ho nature of the knights, they got ambushed inside the building. Six knights went in, and three were left to rot inside - one with his throat slit by a harvester’s claw, one ripped in half by a loup-garou, and the last, our Charlie, incapacitated with a broken leg and abandoned by the fighters she thought would always have her back. The last thing she saw before passing out was her fellows dashing out the front door, ignoring her calls for help.
The next few days were a blur. She remembers blood, a chill coming from her own bones, and a lot of pain. She’s not really sure how she ended up half a district away, still in plate, teeth buried in some guy’s artery, but it didn’t take long to puzzle out approximately what happened. Why they did this instead of executing her and how she hadn’t burnt to death weren’t clear to her, but she figured going back to the Crash Zone when presumed dead to vampires would be a bad look. And regardless, she “died” a warrior’s death - surely they’ll remember her as nobly. For now, she figures she’ll keep doing what she’s always strove to do: raise her blade in the defense of the defenseless. Just… maybe with a little more carnage on the side.
Narrative Significant Qualities
Knight of Silver Moon (Infected [Banshee], Distinctive Style) - Lady Argentum was Infected when her allies fled during a pitched battle with a gang of Infected who were encroaching on the Crash Zone and feeding on some of the locals. She still grapples with her new existence, but figures her blade and breastplate still work just fine, so why fix what ain't broke?
Honorbound (Mentor Spirit [Wise Warrior], Code of Honor [Wuxia, the Wandering Hero]) - Since her defeat and subsequent crisis of faith, Lady Argentum has been forced to redefine what she fights for. She holds herself to a strict honor code to, among other things, always act courteous, treat every foe with respect, and never break a promise made. Mechanically speaking, she may not harm the innocent, may not accept bribes or misuse authority, and may never serve the corrupt.
Anachronistic (School of Hard Knocks, Gremlins) - Lady Argentum hails from the Crash Zone, which isn’t exactly known for its outstanding technological innovations. Modern technology still largely baffles and disobeys her, and frankly, she’d rather only need to learn how her car works.
Bulwark (No Man Left Behind, Flashbacks [Abandonment]) - The sight of her comrades leaving her for dead is forever burnt into her mind's eye. She has sworn to never leave another to the same fate, but can't seem to stop dwelling on what would happen if she was left behind again.

Organizations
Allies
Argentum considers West Coast Monolith an ally for their largely shared goals and her very loose affiliation with the group, but the feeling isn't mutual. Bolt probably isn't even all that happy about working with a soulsucker like her, but at least she's pretty decent outside the whole eating people thing.
Enemies
Lady Argentum has a tendency to cause problems for the local Syndicates, but she isn’t a very big name and has yet to make their radar other than “that blade-wielding maniac in Redmond”.

Symbols and Signatures
Nothing intentional, but when she Drains, it leaves a distinct pale mark on her victims. Since she does so by simply grabbing the face and squeezing until they die of blood loss or soul goo deprivation, this typically creates a ghastly white handprint.

SINs
Sylvia Beauchȇne (R4 UCAS), hobbyist LARPer and participant of multiple local reenactor’s societies who also uses her fencing practice to further her career as personal security.
Appearance
Lady Argentum is a 6’2” elf, white as bone in basically every sense. Her skin is extremely pale, her hair is usually woven into a neatly-braided snowy bun, and her eyes are just a few blues shy of steel-grey. While it’s usually hidden by her armor, she’s lean, well-built, and clearly in near-peak physical condition aside from looking a bit thin.
Clothing
Lady Argentum is typically in armor, finding it quite comfortable. She often wears a thick linen undershirt, opting for a chain shirt with additional more modern composite plates to cover her limbs and give a bit of extra protection to her vitals. Over all this, she owns a long white cloak with which to keep warm in Seattle’s chillier months. While she prefers not to wear a helmet, she does have one styled like a classic greathelm with a hinged visor.
When not going about her knightly business, Lady Argentum (or Sylvia, as she insists you call her) usually keeps to the same attire, just minus the actual armor.
Matrix Persona
Lady Argentum has no idea how to change her Persona, so it's just her Ikon's default office lady, with a chronic tendency to glitch out in horrifying ways.
