Themes of 'a rising tide lifts all boats' and force of will changing one's own fated stars despite adversity.
A displaced Dryad, Dice lives on the Seattle streets and lays her head in whatever lounge, venue, or even benefactor's guest house that she can wheel into for a while. She may not be a Face, but she's got a touch of the grift to support an enterprising individual who may need support with big jobs, particularly if they require crowd control. Her preference for ritual spellcasting reflects a love of clean, orderly operations and well-considered strategies in shadowruns. None of that clinical hermetic drek, mind you, but nice and tidy all the same. Too bad shadowrunning rarely stays on course the way event planning does...
A good rule of thumb for the conspicuous - for better or worse - is to keep everyone convinced that they are having a good time. Dryads have little in the way of a uniform culture, and since even their parents can be human that makes growing up among the SINless even more daunting. It's not an easy life for anyone, even less so when popular prejudice places a target on your back. Having to dodge portions of Seattle and the outlying cities during anti-meta rallies is obnoxious, but having dealt with it most of her life Dice just keeps her head down and looks for mutually beneficial arrangements with other elves where feasible. All the social and economic pressures taught her was that it is better to be entertaining than to be forgotten or reviled. That's her ticket to the top.
She has no blood family remaining, though she has the capacity to be deeply loyal.
Dice excels at blending into plain sight. Her natural ability with Glamour helps her to elude the worst of the public scrutiny, an illusory impression of a blonde-haired, decidedly pinker woman might stay with those who do not have the sight to pierce through to the heart of her nature. Her pointed ears do little to alleviate the general distaste for her kind, but elvish typing and metavariance aside: she manages. Where street savvy and illusion fail, manipulation often solves her concerns. She might be on the streets for now, but she has ambitions.
The combination of dryad allure, a meticulous attention to her appearance within her limited means, and mind-altering abilities makes her an excellent coordinator, hostess, or promoter for events where hostilities are a risk. The majority of her personal interactions are superficial and a means to an end; but those few she trusts are in for life. Her interactions with those she does not know tend to be light and pleasant, but she has a long memory for those who cross her. Still, you never know how fortunes will rise and fall; today the person in the streets you throw a few creds to might be king of the corpos tomorrow. It pays to play carefully.
With her delicate physical frame and allergic flares to the toxicity of urban life, she may not be the heaviest hitter amongst the shadowrunners on the streets of Seattle, but she is steadily acquiring contacts as she works on building a reputation that until Dice rolls in the party has yet to begin.
She is vegetarian, like most of her kind, but survival trumps preference as it is with most people. She sees the Father Tree as a totem of seasons, wither and decay as much a part of the natural order of things as growth and life. She also has the philosophical outlook that her personal fortunes turn in such cycles also, which is part of why she can sometimes be persuaded to work on a favour economy for those who have accrued a positive reputation with her or her allies. If she can help someone here and there, she doesn't sweat it if a nuyen or two kicks over to someone in the winter of their career. If a little karma or good will swings back her way as a result, so much the better.
Though she keeps it well-concealed for fear it will be misinterpreted as an affinity for eco-terrorists, Dice also has ties to a green space conservatory within the city that serves as a retreat for recovery when the demands of the concrete jungle become too taxing, particularly if necessity requires her to delve too far into the vices of shadowrunner life in the city. [Future PC may develop as part of this organization.] She finds herself moving in the same circles as Chloe Green both socially and in her conservation interests, but keeps walls up with the socialite and puts her off as a contact to avoid association with her eco-terrorism group.

| Aspect 1 | Dryads may not always be well-adapted to the concrete jungle. As a result, many have allergies. Dice is fortunate that she primarily has to deal with standing out for her looks, and much of her magic has developed around illusion and manipulation as a result. She is attuned to green spaces within the city, particularly a small series of parks tended by a local conservatory. While she does not have to spend all of her time there, she does often in order not to break the attunement and because her work in the entertainment industry keeps her awake most nights. This makes her particularly susceptible to unwanted guests in the event they are successful in searching for her away from her usual haunts, but it also means she is almost never completely alone. | |
