This is the tale of their clash.
Parties Involved
- Halloweeners are naturally central in this conflict, being the prize both Nightmare and the usurper fight over. Control of this gang is what both desire because it's a motif both can deeply relate to.
- Pump King Jack was Nightmare-type Shadow Spirit, responsible for the rebellion of Halloweeners in Sophocles during late 2081 and early 2082. A small speck of empathy inside of him separated into a weak Spirit of Man, the greater Shadow Spirit being permanently banished away. Nowadays, he's mostly confined to the Metaplane of Man, only stopping by in Sophocles every Halloween for his festival.
- The Starscreamers were Pump King Jack's recruits, comprising of anyone he could get his claws on. This fledgling gang fell apart quickly after Jack's power waned during the events at Yellowstone. Survivors remain scattered in Redmond.
- Nightmare has been the leader of the Halloweeners for years already and is dead set on that remaining the case for many more years to come.
Goals
Pump King Jack both fight for control over the Halloweeners; how this struggle manifests vary. At times, they try to push their astral influence via background count against one another, other times their underlings wage fiery riots. While they're fierce nemeses, neither have met directly. This shadow war is crucial to their goals: total dominance over the Halloweeners and nothing less. It's the only thing the two agree on.
This has developed in a myriad of ways since Jack's first appearance. Due to the actions of shadowrunners and even international parties interfering in his affairs, Jack was driven into hiding all the way in Yellowstone where he was crushed and banished. Sophocles was mostly claimed by the Cutters, a move the Ancients allowed to let the rival gang bear the brunt of repairing damage in the area before presumably doing a takeover operation in the future sometime.
In October 2082, Jack's begun to show up here and there as a result of Calling rituals, advising what few loyalists he has to prepare for a magnificent Halloween on October 31st.
The Halloween festival was almost thwarted by Shiawase's covert ops, but went off without a hitch. Pump King Jack (the Spirit of Man) has openly breached his promise never to come back by appearing with a Calling Ritual to celebrate the holiday with the residents of Sophocles. He intends to do this every year from now on, and seems to have unknown plans in the metaplanes as well. Those still loyal to him, though few in number, whisper hopes of his eventual return.
