Character Information
Summary
A quiet and unassuming fellow. The runner known as Mute rarely, if ever speaks. When not tasked with with finding information on other's behalf, he can be found frequenting the many cafes of Seattle, silently sifting through every scrap of information he can get his virtual hands on. His preferred method of communication appears to be customized emotes featuring his matrix persona, an unblinking eye.
Goals
- Find out who his family was prior to Crash 2.0 and what happened to them.
- Befriend an AI.
- Hack the world.
Background
2:58pm, Friday, 2064/01/02 Seattle, UCAS, DocWagon Clinic
Patient: John Doe Admitted by on 2064/11/03. Presented with near brain death, however, heightened REM detected. Patient seems otherwise unresponsive to physical stimuli. Vitals appear minimal but stable. N.o.K: Notes: Funds depleted. Scheduled for release in 0:02
Dr. Tanaka looked over the chart one last time. A scrawny teenager was dropped off at the foot of the clinic with a credstick and a note 2 months ago. The kid had only become more emaciated since. Funds had run out for his care. Functional or not, management wasn't going to sanction care for him if no one was going to foot the bill. Tanaka watched the clock tick down. Without life support, he would die on his own. With some hesitation, she pulled the plug. As the machine screeched, detecting no vitals, Tanaka sighed. She turned around to pull a wheelchair around to move the body, when he heard the thud of a body hitting the floor. "Ow." Having witnessed a miracle. Tanaka stepped back. The near skeletal figure of a teenager was not only alive, but had tried to get out of bed.
A brief physical, a set of clothes, and meal from the clinic cafeteria later, John Doe had set out onto a strange, new, intuitively connected world.
His only friend, the buzz of the grid.
Narrative Significant Qualities
- Paranoia - Being a technomancer means being discrete or being put on a vivisection table.
- Phobia, Mild (Trolls) - They're big. Too big. I might get squashed.
