Character Information

Summary

Usually, doctors are supposed to be kind and approachable, and while Webber, also known as Argiope, isn't too much of an exception, it is safe to say that no one with Arachnophobia will be asking for a house call anytime soon. Born into a corrupt family, he found himself being one of the unlucky few who managed to survive the virus that plagued his lineage, leading to the family heads to kidnap him and attempt to turn him into an 'Elite Species'. Having managed to escape from their grasp, he found himself being drawn to the world of shadowrunning, to use what was forced upon him to try and do some sort of good.

Goals

Revenge was, and still is, not part of Webber's style, but he knows that horrid experiments on unwilling participants, even in this day and age, is immorally and eternally wrong. He seeks to free any subjects he finds on his runs, and put an end to the pain and suffering that all of the victims feel every, single, day. Something he can very obviously relate with.

Background

The Hiroshi family was one of few morals and even fewer members, most consumed by a mysterious illness before even reaching the age of twenty. Webber Hiroshi, son of Akira and Hashira Hiroshi, was one of the lucky few to not fall victim to the ‘curse’ that plagued his lineage.

Or so he thought.

Being one of the few that managed to live long enough to take proper control over his life, he decided to get something that only a few in the city of Seattle actually had. A proper education in the medical field, and eventually even getting a doctorate, an even rarer sight amongst the street taught. It was during this time that he found that his body was starting to develop differently to others, even amongst the ‘ware ridden halls of the city he wandered in his free time. His skin was starting to pale slightly, his hair was seemingly bleaching itself, and his eyes were reddening more with each passing day. At first, he thought it was the ever present illness in his family, but as time passed on, and he noticed more changes, the more he found out that it was not such an illness, and yet was the same fate that many others before him suffered.

The Hiroshi family heads held a great secret away from all others of the lineage, a nanovirus that was given to each new member from a very, very young age. This nanovirus was specifically created to ‘weed out the unworthy’ from survival, and those who managed to survive were deemed ‘worthy’ of becoming a more elite species. At least, in their eyes. What was deemed as an ‘elite species’ was unknown to Webber at the time, but as he was rummaging through the oddly only physical files that held such information, he could feel something warm beginning to crawl up his skin…

He doesn’t quite recall what exactly happened next, but he found himself riding in a car after coming back to full consciousness, with bandages wrapped around his lower half, or at least, what was left of it. Then, pain. Burning, searing pain rushed through his body as he panicked and squirmed, thrashing around as the other people in the vehicle swarmed him, trying to hold him down as unknown, mechanical limbs began to swipe at them, and eventually causing the car to crash and launch most of the inhabitants out the window… except for Webber. It felt like the parts of him wrapped with bandages were weighing him down, forcing him to use his upper body to try and pull himself out of the wreckage. Eventually, he could feel himself moving more smoothly, and standing up straight, despite the immense pain, it felt like he was… taller, somehow.

That’s when he noticed that he wasn’t anymore what he was before.

Narrative Significant Qualities

Positive

College Education

Webber is Literally a doctor, so it would be rather weird if he didn't attend an actual school to get the education and doctorate needed to take up his position.

Biocompatibility (Cyberware)

His lineage has a very particular unity with Cyberware, one of the main reasons he is what he is now.

Negative

Addiction (Moderate, Bliss)

The many different augmentations made to Webber do not fit him, being scraps that have been used before hand. To solve the immense pain caused by this, he commonly uses Bliss to give himself a higher pain tolerance.

Code of Honor (Innocents and Experimented)

Being an experimented himself, and having taken the Hippocratic oath, there are two main groups that Webber has sworn to never hurt, even under due stress... Well, the later part being 'do no harm' is rather flexible to him, so its more like 'do no harm to those who don't deserve it' now.

SINner (National, Webber Hiroshi)

More concerned with handling his 'ware predicament over anything else, Webber never really tossed his original SIN when he had the opportunity to. Well, it does come in handy sometimes, he can at least do 'normal' things without worrying about a random SIN check messing up everything, he has a REAL one after all.

Appearance

Hiroshi's unaltered body is quite pale in comparison to others of his heritage, almost albino in appearance but still possessing at least some form of color. As for the augmentations, Hiroshi looks nothing like how his family looked. His entire lower half has been replaced by a mechanical-looking spider body, posessing six legs, all of which have been heavily modified. Even parts of his upper body are augmented, as he has six more eyes on several parts of his head and neck, all of which are red in color.

Clothing

Being a doctor, or at least having been one, Hiroshi is often seen with a white coat over a blue dress shirt as his common appearance, but during runs, Argiope wears a slick red coat over a black vest, over a white dress shirt, all custom fitted and patched with protective layers of armor, although it'd be hard to tell at first glance; he is surprisingly charismatic for what he is.

Matrix Persona

Currently, Webber hasn't fully accepted his new body, and his persona reflects that. He looks much more like his old self, having his normal lower half again and less pale skin, his eyes being blue instead of their current red.
