Background
Once again a mysterious Johnson has been wronged again by the world around him. Wanting to get revenge and earn back what is rightfully his and was stolen by an asshole in a large red double decker bus. The Johnson once more looks for runners to get revenge.
The Meet
- For Blue Jay, a call came in informing of amazing news for one of her contacts, Daniel Davidson Junior. Who informed her of a bit of family history involving his father and how his father had to give up a car to the Cutters to pay a substantial debt. A heist was to be performed at a Cutters mansion in the PCC. Said car, a 1970s Ford Mustang refitted with matrix technology would likely get him back in the game. Blue Jay ecstatic for this agreed to meet the Johnson for the run, secure in her goal to grab the car for her contact and friend.
- For Bunny Hop, they were simply researching the intricacies of the matrix, trying to explore it more with their mind than natural abilities. But this came to an end as eventually Bunny Hop receives a call from Anhe informing Bunny Hop of a run, however this was not like the rest as Anhe learned something that troubled them, the evidence indicated that the run took place in a mansion where it was confirmed Bunny Hop's father had done business in, stating their may be incriminating evidence against him to further Bunny Hop's goals. Now determined Bunny Hop agreed to the job and set out to hopefully be one step closer to bringing her father to justice, or getting her righteous revenge.
- For Eidolon, only the barrage of bullets greeted him on the morning as the assault on the West Coast Monolith's base refused to relent nor show any sign of stopping. Heading into the workshop of Hextech who was calibrating Veles' new body. After telling Hextech to take a well deserved rest, a newer recruit to the WCM known as Vincent stated he was to escort the pair to Bolt as an important assignment had been given to the two. Agreeing to follow Vincent, the three managed to sneak by the onslaught and make their way into Bolt's office. The man more... quiet than usual as he relayed a short story regarding an old friend he had while serving Knight Errant who went undercover in a Cutters' base in the PCC. Not even one month later she "accidentally" happened to get caught in a cutters on cutters shootout on her ride home from work. Veles keeping the man on track was able to get him to relay a run was being cooked up in the same Cutters' base/mansion and one of the pieces of information his old friend was able to find was a chip that contained several if not a vast majority of the Cutters' stashes hidden across the entirety of the North American continent. Also how if they found that chip and the stashes, the conflict they faced may tip a bit in their favor. Eidolon and Veles agreeing to this mission decided to sneak out via the nearby lake, chemseal proving essential as well as their natural stealth abilities as they managed to sneak their way past the siege and towards the meet.
- For Lingchi, a simple quiet evening was greeting them before they received a call from Joe Smith with important news. There may be a way for Lingchi to assist Quanxi get out of their predicament. In a Cutters mansion in the PCC, there have been rumours of a foci belonging to a cosmic mage with traces to someone Lingchi may have encountered in the past. Agreeing to this with little complications, Lingchi was given the location of the meet and headed promptly with their ally spirit Sojourner quickly in toe.
- For Samsara, it was a simple day before being given a simple job by one Warboss who wanted to expand their collection of various trinkets and treasures. One of Warboss' favorite bands Chip Truth did a limited time special event where in they made a vintage vinyl record of one of their albums. Using authentic techniques and methods used in the fifth world to produce such items. Warboss tasked Samsara with obtaining the record which hung over the Cutters dining room. Warboss obtaining this information via a brief trip to the area. After offering Samsara rewards for completing the task she agreed and headed towards the meet.
- After all parties arrived at the meet, a Johnson resided near the coast of the lake of Bellevue. The Johnson in question informing the runners of how after a deal gone bad, their stash of credsticks had been stolen by a man in a double decker red UK styled bus. Stating that said credsticks and man were to be located at a mansion in the PCC owned by the Cutters. And that they wanted the run to either be done so quiet no one was to be detected or so loud that they could hear it from Seattle. Being inconsistent in their words, Veles managed to get the Johnson to simply admit it was a matter of revenge and if the runners could satisfy that they would receive extra pay. The said Johnson offering drugs and weaponry of any variety they could muster for the credsticks to be returned and for a nice tinge of revenge for all that had been done to them. The runners agreeing to it all and with their own goals in mind headed towards the PCC, hoping to achieve a job well done and to achieve their own goals.
The Plan
Realizing that passing the borders may prove difficult, the runners agreed to split into smaller groups to avoid appearing suspicious or attract attention to themselves. After taking their respective rides over the borders they all regrouped near the border of Zephyr Cove. The runners trying to play off being simple tourists in one of the few areas where nature naturally flourished and where people could act with it without fear of... several things getting in the way. The runners managing to find a motel in the shape of a large wooden cabin. The group was able to play it off pretty well pardon Lingchi, who drew attention after their fascination with a tree. Sojourner thankfully to play it off and drag them to the nearby room to settle down. Wanting to do some reconnaissance on the mansion, Bunny Hop got to work on the matrix while those more astrally inclined called upon a familiar face with the Haven. One Adeptus who agreed to regale them with some information in exchange for Karma. Lingchi reluctantly agreeing to part with 7 in order to receive the full amount of information. Adeptus regaled the runners with how the astral felt... off. It was natural, there was authentic pure nature on both the physical and astral. But it still felt... off, like someone couldn't place it together right and by proxy it felt fake, much like the cutters and their corporate influence. Spirits heading there to relax for limited periods of time before leaving. The feeling unnerving them despite a lack of a background count. Weirded out yet intrigued the runners thanked Adeptus for the information.
Meanwhile Bunny Hop looked into the matrix security for the mansion and other relevant information they could find, figuring out that Kevin Crimes and the owner, a cutter simply going by the name of Lance planned to host a party not too long away. The perfect time to strike being before this event as to avoid unnecessary casualties. The mansion itself having its own dedicated rating 7 host and spider on site. All seemed normal till Bunny Hop grew worried as the mansion apparently used a BlackIC for patrol as opposed to a simple patrol IC. But never the less Bunny Hop took note of all defenses she could identify. Multiple Icons in every room in some degree connected to the matrix with one room strangely absent from both the schematics of the building as well as invisible on the matrix. 8 security guards patrolled the premises with 8 more inside to act as a more social security force. Which was even stranger but regardless BHop's personal search lied elsewhere as they recognized the room the spider was located in with a powerful deck assisting them. But regardless BHop gazed at the countless icons on display in the spiders room. Looking at file after file hoping to find one that tied to her father. Multiple of them being Bluegoo'd so thankfully her attention was rewarded as she noticed 4 encrypted files that may be what she was looking for. Remembering the rough time frame of his visit being 2080 she found one listed for March, August, October, and December. Realizing that her luck had been pushed Bunny Hope elected to stop the recon for fear of ruining the run should she be caught as well as face the wrath of the spider and BlackIC. Meanwhile some brief astral reconnaissance was being performed around the general area the mansion was located in. A large yet weak force 2 ward surrounded the small group of mansions with various watcher spirits patrolling the premises. Closer to the mansion it was surrounded by a far stronger force 8 ward. with stronger watcher spirits surrounding the building. With all of the information they could gather now at their disposal the runners readied themselves for the fight ahead. Readying themselves with magic, ammunition, and tons of explosives meant to take down the mansion for revenge.
The Run
After some brief work hopping over the wall that surrounded the community and not breaking the ward due to clever astral tactics the runners headed towards the mansion and the security that surrounded the building. Samsara, Eidolon, and Veles sneaking physically onto the premises with the aid of Blue Jay and Bunny Hop taking down the cameras and giving the perfect times to head straight through and sneak through a side entrance. Meanwhile Lingchi and Sojourner dealt with the watcher spirits that circled the premises. Through a series of comedic events involving a plate and an Ares Predator. One Kevin Crimes stormed out of the building to go look for the ones responsible as their cover had been slightly blown and Bunny Hop slightly taunting the man. As he left and patrolled to see where the other runners went the remaining group near the manor knew that stealth had became far more difficult. Lance summoning a powerful free spirit and giving them a powerful weapon foci. After obtaining supernatural stealth thanks to Lingchi and telling security drones to look out a window the runners were in place for the ambush and struck they did. Despite finding the Johnson's credsticks nearly instantly, they all had stakes in this, and noone was willing to back down from it. Veles and Samsara proving devastating on the front lines with supernatural speed and durability. Veles however far more vulnerable to the onslaught of stick n shock the regular guards deployed yet she still stood strong even against the free spirit's devastating blows. Samsara and Lance being evenly matched as they traded blow after blow with Lance having far more difficulty due to Samsara's invisibility via Lingchi. Lingchi's summoned spirits capable of peppering and chinking away at the strong spirits presence with Lingchi casting the occasional spell for support. Eidolon however kept sniping and weakening all of the guards he could with his powerful rifle.
Whilst the combat commenced, Kevin Crimes throughout his patrols was able to locate Blue Jay despite her stealth and confronted her. Blue Jay using their charms were able to taunt Kevin Crimes into accepting another race between the two, hoping to also secure a way out of the mansion upon completion of their mission. Kevin Crimes refusing to let go of his ego agreed and ordered the local law enforcement to back down and cleared a route for the two to race. A tense race between the two emerged with both seemingly neck and neck despite fish tailing and dirty tactics. Once they arrived back at the mansion Kevin saw the chaos unfolding or... rather heard it and knowing firsthand the capabilities of runners chose to drive off leaving the cutters and runners to their vices.
All the while as the onslaught continued Bunny Hop hid from the spider currently in active pursuit of them whilst Bunny Hop aided and buffed her allies. However, eventually the spider did find them and after an intense data spike Bunny struck with her own data spike that desimated the spider downing them in one strong hit, herself capable of hiding from the BlackIC with little difficulty. The onslaught between the Cutters and runners continued as Eidolon and Veles moved towards the blacked out room hoping to find the chip they had been tasked with finding. The cutters failing to relent as they exploded the walls in the way after telling the bystander chefs to retreat. Veles' body being nearly torn to shreds as the volleys continued. Eidolon taking some punishment via proxy as he returned fire and picked at the safes that may contain what they were looking for. Bunny Hop during this time also decrypting all the files she could hoping to find the one that contained dirt on her father. With a couple more pushes and work via Eidolon and Veles they found both a safe of credsticks and the chip hidden in a safe underneath a bed that resided in the room. Whilst on the outside due to Blue Jay's return her drones managed to incapacitate via darts the guards that remained on the outside ordered to stay put in case any of the runners tried to escape. Knocking them out one by one as the violence rampaged.
The violence continued for a little while longer before after Lance was crippled a surrender was issues as their powerful figured were crippled and Veles mentioned the explosives she planted throughout and outside the mansion. With little fight left in the Cutters Lance ordered a retreat. Samsara picking up the weapon foci with the promise of a rematch against the powerful spirit that wanted it back. With little time left before law enforcement would arrive the runners hurried and grabbed what they needed. Samsara grabbing the vinyl record past the preps thanks to Veles' natural magical immunity/negation. Sojourner managing to find the foci they and Lingchi were looking for and despeling the preps that protected it. Veles and Eidolon grabbing their chip. Bunny Hop managing to find and store the file on her father. And finally Blue Jay finding the 1970s mustang in the garage. Not wanting too much heat the runners split into two teams with Blue Jay at the wheel of her roadmaster and Veles driving the mustang away through the surrounding woods. Not knowing what to do a quick call to a contact revealed there may be one place they could retreat to in order to lay low as the pursuit was in effect. A retired prime runners residence who went by the alias of "Jackie Jack" who lived around the shore of the lake. With a destination in mind and with stealthy driving the runners headed towards his home. With careful and deliberate driving as well as pure luck the 2 groups reemerged around Jackie's home as Blue Jay tried to talk to him. AFter some back and forth and being honest about how they were runners and needed to hide. Jackie relented and opened his garage for the runners to hide inside. Noticing a few of them thanks to reputation as he let them crash on his couch and guest room as the law enforcement pursuit died down.
Aftermath
As the runners snagged a ride back to Seattle they all returned more than victorious with not just their main run completed but going above and beyond as they pushed beyond their limits and took what they needed. The Johnson rejoiced in sweet, sweet revenge and offered the runners his most sincerest thanks and payment as he went home happy. The runners also relishing in a good job done.
