Asuna Inoue's parents moved to Seattle for work when she was still a child; her father is a Shinto Priest and her mother is a minor executive in MITSUHAMA COMPUTER TECHNOLOGIES. Asuna grew up in the Shinto Temple of Everett. She has always loved to play in the temple grounds, where she met a neighbour and childhood friend, Antidrek who is the Elf son a a wealthy man and now Asuna's husband. Asuna's parents are both Enchanters and she learned Enchantment magic from a young age, the first technique being the ability to make Protective Armor Charms that are given to important temple patrons.

These temple Protective Charms, called Omamori, are actually touch activated Armor (or similar spell) preparations using a calligraphy inscribed Washi lynchpin, protected from early activation by the Charm's brocade bag exterior. The temple also offers Ofuda appropriate to a home - generally a mana barrier preparation.

Asuna is prepared to sell an Armor Omamori only to PCs with a loyalty rating of 3 or more. She charges the standard Active skill use nuyen, namely (Alchemy dice pool / 4) x hours worked x 150 + material components. She charges a minimum 10 minutes to make a charm. This means a Potency 2 Armor Charm (which requires no reagents) will have a base price of ((8/4) x 1/6 x 150) = 50 nuyen. She is prepared to reuse a brocade bag previously bought from her, but a new one costs 50 nuyen. Thus the first Omamori base price is 100 nuyen. If she ends up taking (physical) drain from making an Omamori, she expects compensation of 100 nuyen per point of damage suffered, and is highly reluctant to make higher than potency 2 charms, even if reagents are provided.
