Summary

The Runners set out for Glow City to clear Road 202 of a blockade of Rustet Stilletos. They succeed just in time before their client, pursued by three KE squad cars, drives by.

Background

Taxi Sandra has a mission to act as a getaway driver for a complicated data theft. Part of the mission is to distract KE. She has planned an escape route past Glow City. Shortly before the run can start for her, however, it turns out that the Rustet Stilletos are currently blocking the road and demanding tolls. This is where the runners come in, to clear the road at short notice.

The Meet

The meeting takes place in a deserted parking lot in Redmond. Sandra is already waiting there with her Ares Roadmaster for the runners and listens to way too loud music. When the Runners arrive, Sandra explains the job: "Clear the road - we have to get through there in a few hours, and probably pretty fast". She offers the Runners 20,000 Nuyen and they accept. She then hands La Rapide a burner commlink to report in about 20 minutes before they pass the blockade and drives off to her job.

The Plan

Nogisune sends his Fly Spy ahead to take a closer look at the blockade. He discovers 4 Orcs and 2 Trolls blocking the road with two pickups and heavy weapons. On one side of the road is Glow City on the other a large hill. The runners decide to keep some distance with their vehicles. While La Rapide, Voice of the Whirlwind, Akari and Geilrid sneak up the hill to take position, Nogitsune goes to the other side in Glow City to take position on a nearby roof and aim his sniper rifle. The Runners want to wait with the attack until they receive the call from their client, so that they don't have to worry about reinforcements.

The Run

Nogisune manages to place himself on a flat roof near the blockade. Glow City is eerie though, he can't shake the feeling of being watched and could also see some roaming toxic spirits. On the hill, Voice of the Whirlwind comes across a stumbling block with a grenade, but is able to disarm it and warn the other runners that the area is mined with traps. As they proceed a bit further, La Rapide and Akari are tracked down by the Toxic Mage's Discover Life spell. He tells one of his orc buddies to grab an RPG and fire in that direction. A fight breaks out between the Runners and the Rustet Stilletos. La Rapid is incapacitated and Akari has to deal with a toxic adept again while the rest of the team is covering fire or in case of Geilrid throwing in some magic. The Runners manage to overpower the Stilletos and clear the street. Shortly after, Sandra gets a call saying that she is being chased by KE. All the Runners except Akari decide to leave as soon as possible. Akari has set his mind to ram one of the KE trucks. Unfortunately, or fortunately for her, she fails and ends up in the ditch on the other side of the road as the squad cars rush past her with machine guns blazing.

Aftermath

Sandra was able to shake off KE outside of Seattle as planned and rake in a whopping profit.

Voice of the Whirlwind

I do love killing toxic fuckers. Whatever dark bargains they've made aren't enough to protect them from a nice, precise burst of APDS, or even a neat little headshot. Well, not exactly neat, even with APDS this gun leaves a lot of splatter. One of those guys hit me with a grenade, but the blast was blocked by my armour like a wave breaking on rocks, then some guy decided to subject me to a light rain of machine-gun suppressive fire, and I dodged everything else that came at me. Amateurs.
