Summary

Old is gold, and Mr Baxter is a testament to the saying. He's back in business after a lengthy hiatus and more dangerous than ever. Ex-mafioso and debt-collector, William know exactly how to drive the conversation and is an adept at getting what he wants with nothing more than words rolled off a tongue both silvered and barbed. So many years of service has him well associated with the shadows of Seattle, working with the Finnegan's for 30 years before spending almost all his earnings across the next few whilst travelling between Britain and Italy - London, Rome & Madrid being his favourite places to visit,

Background

Born in 2023, William is a bit of an old timer. He was a little kid when magic started becoming mainstream, not even 10 when UCAS was formed and finished education before he was legally required to have a SIN to do so. It wasn't much, but he managed to find work at the docks getting loads on and off ships. The company wouldn't yet implement any SIN requirements for years and it's quite possible that William's less-than-legal endeavours helped 'push that boat out' so to speak. Showing an aptitude for communications and never missing his work hours (and even putting extra ones in) helped him climb the ranks, eventually reaching a role within the distributions team in his prime and a high rank within said team towards the end of them. Along the way, however, he'd made sure to make some friends.

His job in distributions gave him some good clout with the Finnegan Family who have always had an interest in the dockyards even before Rowena was running the joint. He would help make certain shipments reach the 'right' location and otherwise assist the family's control over the goods trade in return for some light protections and - more importantly - access to a SIN forger who could keep his identity hidden if drek hit the fan, though advantageous circumstances would mean that even after 25 years of business with the family, he wasn't linked to a single crime.

His 50's had hit, and spending the majority of his life watching the more than often weird & less than often wonderful world go by, changing so much while he changed so little, had driven him to make a decision. After a few years of holiday in Italy and some more in London (where he had adopted his interest in high fashion with traditionalist values), William has come back to Seattle to get back to business. This time though, it would be his own. Two and a half decades of service to the Finnegans was enough to formally resign from his position and instead request to do shadowrunning work for the family. The request to continue work was originally declined given his age of 56 at the time, but a persistence led family member and fixer, David Harsmen to take him up on his offer and begin a new term of relations.

Narrative Significant Qualities

Positive

• Put's the 'Brutal' in Gentleman

Charisma is Mr Baxter's game, though whilst he's able to play on all fronts he's better on the offensive and best when speaking softly. A close connection with the Mafia has taught him plenty of ways to mentally dominate people.

• First and Foremost

Words are just like weapons, and just as you strike first so an opponent can never hit you with his hardest, a runaway debtor should only ever need to see you once.

Negative

• Aged like a Fine Wine

Wisdom comes with age, though it could be argued that there's nothing wise about shadowrunning. Those folks obviously haven't got the work mentality.

• Creature of Comfort

It's easier for a younger fellow, but after all these years anything less than a middle lifestyle is agony for an old git.

• Touch my cane and I'll break your neck with it

Bringing a cane to a gunfight isn't the best idea, even if that cane has got a gun in it. Mr Baxter, of course, doesn't give a fuck.

• What do you mean you "smell gas"?

Drek happens when you get old 'aight, besides it's the body's natural way of stopping old people from being able to smell themselves. Granted, the smoking hasn't helped much.
