Summary

Six and Gigs recruit another strong ghoul to the inevitable defense mission by protecting a refugee camp and committing ULTRAVIOLENCE on Halloweener strike squads.

Background

Halloweeners have been going around torching ghoul warrens! This is a little concerning for Gigabite's purposes, although she can't completely blame them.

The Meet

Once more, Gigs is meeting her operation logistics leader with Six and is informed that the Halloweeners are mostly an issue because a particularly capable individual is protecting a number of innocent ghouls and won't leave their side so long as the go-gangers are incinerating Kriegers in the Barrens. Gigs offers to go see if she can rectify the situation.

The Run

When Six and Gigs get to the camp, they do encounter the man in charge. First order of business is feeding the good folks; Gigabite heads back to her apartment and brings back 29 pounds of metahuman meat, her entire monthly capacity and as a result leaves her own fridge empty. The ghouls are ecstatic and grateful, also allowing her to talk with their sturdy broad-shouldered guardian. Gigs and Six promise to help him deal with this issue, possibly find them a more defendable location and get some ways to build a good squatting location. For this, Gigs requests Brodie J for help, calls the GLL and the 162s for extra muscle to protect the ghouls and prepares to watch over the camp. Unfortunately, Six of Hearts already spots Halloweeners on a rickety gang truck. Thinking quick on her feet, Gigs spots a derelict car frame in the crossroads and directs Six to activate her ruthenium polymer cloak, sneak up and plant two kilograms of C4 on the concealed side of the car. Six flanks the lane the gangers are arriving from, pops up to Flashbang them just in time and forces the driver to swerve out of the grenade's effect -- directly into the bomb. Gigabite detonates the bomb and sends the entire truck flying across the air, killing two Halloweeners instantly and leaving two others in critical condition.

Gigs drags one of them into her bike's Valkyrie module while the other one gets patched up with a Trauma patch and Savior nanites. Once they're just treated enough to wake up again, they're dragged on their knees, face to face to one another, and Gigabite records a warning message, delivering an ultimatum to the rest of the Halloweeners in a brutal beating. She bashes the other Halloweener's head to death with her guitar, unties the remaining survivor and tells him to limp away with a minute headstart. She has no intention of actually following the guy, just to send him back with a recording of what she did to the other survivor. The survivors grab the guns off the Halloweeners and the guardian sets up the truck's remains as a continuation of a roadblock.

Aftermath

Once recruited, the logistics chief is ecstatic to see an old acquaintance, but they start sorting out their unresolved issues with one another. Thanks to Gigabite's cheerleader rallying, the grendel wins against the newcomer just barely and all of them celebrate with some booze and meat. Another strong fighter is received to hold the frontline and Brodie J's construction drone is put to work in the logistics center, reinforcing the building and building trenches, foxholes, frontline cover and more. Once its work is done, it'll go to help the ghoul refugees where-ever they end up finding a good place to squat.

Six of Hearts

Well... that certainly went in a direction I wasn't expecting. C4 worked like a charm... and a good thing, too. That truck would've been hard to deal with without a well timed explosion to throw it thirty fucking meters.

Okay, look... I know Gigs is all about not killing people... perfectly fine. And it's a great stance to have for the majority of our work... it keeps the heat off of us when high profile runs go down, ya know? Knight Errant is less likely to divert high value resources for a crime where no one was killed versus one where everyone was killed. That being said... sometimes you gotta cave a skull in to get a point across... especially with a group like the Halloweeners. It's good to see Gigs understands that. It's a difficult line to walk sometimes, but it's a line we gotta walk regardless to stay safe.
