Background

During a job to extract a prototype insect spirit conversion artifact, the team found their target stolen by a different team of ShadowHaven runners before they got to it. A chase ensued, and the enemy team crashed their car on a major highway, destroying the stabilizing container without much time remaining before it went off in the middle of downtown.

Meet

The team tried to reason with the other runners by explaining that they had a fridge that would stabilize the prototype, but they were on drugs that were making them paranoid, and they wouldn't listen. The posturing intensified until a fight over the prototype broke out in the middle of the street.

Run

Both teams tried to go nonlethal as a professional courtesy, or at least use the lethal rounds they had loaded in ways that didn't harm directly. Shade didn't get the memo, however, and sniped Vanguard through the chest, killing him instantly. The conflict escalated from there, resulting in no pulled punches. Access Revoked photographed Tanuki's car and sent a tip to Knight-Errant, causing Purkinje to hack into the Knight-Errant host and erase the file. Tanuki managed to pick up Blue Streak, who was outside of the van, and get the prototype stabilized. Usagi, Hunter, Shade and Blue Streak then provided suppressing fire and targeted disabling shots with nonlethal rounds until they were able to escape.

Seeing Knight-Errant closing in on the mostly unconscious enemy runner team, Purkinje hacked the Knight-Errant host she was in to plant false information that would exonerate them (or at least obstruct investigation until someone else could manage it.)

Aftermath

The Johnson was satisfied with the team's performance, though the runners were extremely upset. Vanguard was taken to a doctor, but his fate remains unknown.

Player After-Action Reports

Purkinje's Report

This one was scary. I've never had to go up against a team of runners before, and when drek hit the fan and their street sam took a sniper round through the chest, I knew we were in for a bad time. Access Revoked was clever, making me run off into the KE host like that. It was a risky maneuver, and after seeing how things escalated, I decided it best to help them out. A wergild, as Usagi put it. I hope Vanguard lives.

Tanuki's Report:

That in many ways, was something that could of been relatively simple, messed up by a lack of communication. Vanguard didn't have to be hospitalized, if everyone knew that you didn't go hard against other runners. We wouldn't have to at least dodge a missile, if that hadn't happened. We were good enough today, but I don't know, we could of been a crater with a bug infestation bomb if we weren't good enough/lucky enough. That's really all I have to say.
