Overview
When a lieutenant in the San Francisco Ancients ended up in her care after a run-in with the SFPD, Dr. Charlotte Knight stuck to her oaths to preserve life and privacy just as staunchly as she would with any other patient. She didn't expect it to cost her career; turns out, cops don't like it when you tell them to "frag off and die" when they're searching your ER for wanted criminals, and don't give a drek if you're on your second dose of Long Haul for the week.
But sometimes it pays to stick to your principles, even in as unforgiving of a place as the Sixth World. By the time she'd finished sleeping off the Long Haul crash, she'd become a hero to the local Ancients chapter, and the gangers thanked her by offering to set her up as their cyberdoc. They could provide the clinic space, medical equipment, and supply lines on all the 'ware she needed, as long as she could perform the procedures. She agreed, setting up shop under the name Dr. Nightshade, and she's travelled between all the major West Coast chapters since--down to LA, and now up to Seattle.
