Summary
Xyvis Witness a kidnapping and wished for the return of those affected. She hires out a team of four runners who find out where to extract the captives.
Background
Two lovers, one of which is a son of a farming tycoon, is capture by the Cutters, and Xyvis hires runners to see them returned safely.
The Meet
The runners find an abandoned building with a gang logo. Approaching with caution, they find Mrs. johnson wearing a disheveled suit with black eyes - Xyvis. The Johnson wanted the runners to find two kidnapped folks and return them to safety.
When Xyvis didn't have necessarily accurate information, there was a moment of tension between the runners and the Xyvis, but further interrogation did make prove fruitful. 'Payment' consisted of low tier credsticks, a gold necklace, a shiny rock, a paddleball, and hunted squirrels. Berg asked for a lock of hair as reward. Deciding to work for her anyway, they decided as a group to see if Xyvis could be useful, to which they found out Xyvis is a shifter.
To find out more about the kidnapped duo that Xyvis wanted them to find, Iron dived the matrix the net to find more info. After a few hours of work, the Iron found and shared information about what happened. The Kidnappers used a white van and masks to take their marks, a security cam that showed one of the kidnappers, and the SIN of the kidnapped person.
The Plan
The plan is to scout out the location of the kidnapped duo and save them, using both tech and magic to sniff out the location.
The Run
The gang headed towards Touristville while packed into Blue jay's car with Noir's car in tow. While being driven, Iron is able to do another matrix dive where they find out more of the Kidnapper's information, but to further search the team works together. Noir summoned a spirit of to search, and Iron provided an image of the kidnapper. Blue Jay decides to deploy their drones again as the team is able to astral sense the location of the kidnappers, a two story building in redmond. Noir is able to find with the help of an air spirit that the building was secured with cameras but nothing magical. Blue Jay searches with her drones, which allows the team to find out much information regarding the technical security of the building.
To get closer yet, Noir uses the air spirit again to make Iron concealed and invisible, allowing for a silent and potentially deadly infiltration. Iron, nearly fully cloaked, uses their technomancy powers to put the security cameras on loop and stun the electronic security, including being able to see through the security devices himself.
Preparing to storm the building, Iron and Blue jay reinforce their drones, Berg shifts into his ursine form and takes up the back alley. Berg and Bluejay prepared to head through the back doors, Iron and Noir through the front. Iron and Noir burst through the front and are assailed by a shotgun trap, to which Iron protects Noir , though the duo do not emerge unscathed.
Once inside the team is assailed by a ninja with two katanas. That Ninja attacks Iron, who does not dodge. Steelbite, one of the kidnappers, makes himself known to the group saying "So, the old man sent you all to grab the kid! Well, you better back the fuck off of or there will be no kid to save." Noir is able to control the actions of the katana wielding Ninja to make them stop attack, then a troll from the basement joins the fray and is immediately suppressed by Iron's room-clearing cannon suppression (264 nuyen every 6 seconds)
Berg gets close to the Ninja and rakes them with his claws, slashing out at them. The ninja between having controlled actions by Noir was an easy target and was downed instantly by Berg. Next, Bluejay strikes at Steelbite with her drones, sending a flurry of rounds down range. In response to the dire situation, the troll throws a grenade and instead throws the pin, the grenade rolling down the stairs they were standing on. Noir casts confusion on Steelbite who is again suppressed by Iron. In response, Iron takes time to focus on Steelbite who shrugs off the rounds. Bluejay next programs her drones to look through the basement.
Seeing the hostages harmed by the grenade, Bluejay has her drone fire upon the troll who does not take the burst lightly, attempting to flee after being shot. Next, Steelbite fires upon Noir yet Iron manages to step in the way to protect the mage he derided earlier. Seeing Iron fall to the ground after protecting her, Noir tries to protect Iron by casting stunbolt on Steelbite. The stunbolt is successful and knocks him unconscious, ending the combat. The drones follow the running combatant, firing upon them which knocks them unconscious.
Aftermath
Noir and Berg help the hostages back to health with healing, then decide to chow down on the gore from the exploded goons. after rescuing the hostages, the crew search the building briefly, finding some loot from the now defunct hostage takers. Noir and Bluejay interrogate the last living member of the now identified Cutters, letting them go. The gang escapes as the Cutters exfil team storms the building from a helicopter insert, narrowly dodging the the reinforcements. While the crew didn't earn much nuyen for their efforts, returning the kidnaped person's to their freedom was quite the reward of their own.
