Character Information

Summary

A young man from Tír na Nóg with a cyberdeck, his band, and moxie. He used to be in the IRA until a terrible mistake, partly due in hand from boozing, costing him greatly and forcing him to move to Seattle with the one person who'd take his side.

Goals

Have his band, Wailin' Dozens, be well known at least throughout Seattle.

Be able to live with his past actions in peace, preferably in a nice High Class home in Belleuve.

Background

2062, Tír na Nóg. Two IRA-based humans gave birth to a SINless human who'd they'd come to call Rúadhán Murphy, a name based in Gaelic instead of Sperethiel. From the day he was born until he left the nest, the ideals of "True Irishmen & Women" was drilled into him, a hatred of elves coming along at the same time. Aside from this, though, he was a pretty normal boy who was all piss and vinegar, even despite his growing interest in the matrix and its technology. Whenever he wasn't getting into little scraps or pranks, he'd be reading up and studying about the matrix, cybertechnology, cyberdecks, and other assorted things, alongside music as a secondary passion.

Thirteen he was when he began work, obviously not doing extremely dangerous tasks for the IRA, but hacking less important locations and drastically increasing noise in heavily populated areas. He actually wasn't too awful at it, even despite his young age, and got himself a little crew together due to respect built up from his successful attempts to mess with the matrix aspects of Tír na Nóg, even minorly.

Once he became of age, he was asigned riskier jobs alongside his merry band, and firstly began with a job to assassinate a slightly high up Leinster elf known as Cathrene Fitzgerald. It was their last.

They thought it would be easy since she wasn't exactly that rich, so they were drinking all the way to the place in merryment, and after turning off the camera systems they marched in, not even taking the time to look through them. The people inside, however, were fully expecting IRA forces that night, and so there was a tripwire and a big mighty explosive waiting for the five of them. Only Rúadhán survived. The others were turned into chunks, as his limbs were all rendered impossibly damaged if not removed completely. The only reason he didn't die was that a secondary force quickly arrived, taking him back and chroming him up with synthetic limbs. Despite this, they didn't appreciate him or give him a moment to himself, figuring out he didn't properly prepare and look for an explosive, and so he was a damn fool who brought this mass death upon himself. One, an ex-Otaku and fellow musician, saw his side however; That they simply were unprepared as a group due to the supposed ease, and thus he and the fellow Decker, Aidan Byrne, decided to head away to escape the scrutiny and disappointment, moving to Seattle mostly due to the musical scene working for their shared taste in the modern Punk scene.

Aidan's family was filled with runners, most dead but some just too far away, so he knew what to do for getting a man of Rúadhán's skill set a job, as he was chromed up, with an old deck from Aidan's father, and eventually after a few years of initial running, at 22, was able to make it to the ShadowHaven.

Narrative Significant Qualities

Positive

Negative

Mild Addiction to Psyche: Part of him attempting to cope with his past is using Psyche, and while he's not constantly popping pills, he does have a minor psychological need for them now and going too long without taking Psyche can leave him irritable and irrational.

Bad Rep: The story of "The young Decker not taking proper precautions and single-handedly killing the other four young men with bright futures ahead of them" is one that certainly changes perspectives and first impressions, generally for the worst.

Flashbacks I (Drunk Metahumans): The actual cause of not only the other four people he once had as friends dying gruesomely, and him losing all four of his natural limbs, at least in his eyes, was their drunkeness. They were too boozed up to be cautious and suffered for it, and so when he sees inebriated metahumans he could have a panic attack as memories of that fateful day come flooding back.

Outspoken Prejudice Against Elves: Having been born and raised by members of the IRA, and still standing with them somewhat despite their disapproval of him, he doesn't like elves. They're "Da' damn keebs who stole Ireland from de' Irish", and while he won't gun one down on sight like a madman, he'll be quick to throw slurs and have great discomfort on his face.
