It's an open question whether Zheng is a psychopath, or if he simply discarded his empathy on the way up the corporate ladder. Whatever the case he's a cruel, venal man, one who takes pleasure in abusing the power his position gives him over others. His dream is to one day be made a Yakuza, which despite his family connection is unlikely to ever happen. He is a middle man, nothing more, and the knowledge eats at him every day

If loyalty drops to zero in this way, you will be burned and have your information sold to the highest bidder.

Overview

A Mitsuhama manager and born paper pusher, Zheng oversees magical security for the company's Seattle warehouses. While he is not awakened himself, he has access to a far greater power: nepotism from his Yakuza-connected uncle. He supplements his substantial income by being ludicrously corrupt, taking a cut of the illicit goods he allows to flow through his network.

Traits

It's an open question whether Zheng is a psychopath, or if the climb up the corporate ladder has simply trained the empathy out of him. Whatever the case he's a cruel, venal man, one who takes pleasure in abusing the power his position gives him over others. His dream is to one day be made a Yakuza, which- despite his family connection- seems unlikely to ever happen. At the end of the day he's just a middle man, and that eats at him like nothing else

Aspects Description

Aspect Description
All for the Bottom Line People say Zheng would sell his grandmother for a new Concordant. While this is an exaggeration (he'd rather have a Gladius), runners should know that he's motivated by profit and power exclusively. Appeals to emotion, requests for favors, all will fall on deaf ears.
The Boss is the Boss Zheng doesn't quite get the idea that shadowrunners are freelancers. When you take a job from him you are his employee, and can expect to be treated as well as your average unpaid intern. Anything that you can do he can do better, and he'll always be ready to give helpful "advice" that he expects to be followed exactly. If- god forbid- you bruise his ego, you must make it up to him with a long, sycophantic apology. If you refuse, lose one loyalty. If loyalty drops to zero in this way, you will be burned and have your information sold to the highest bidder.
Corpo Connections Zheng's Rolodex is hefty indeed. For every powerful MCT exec, one only need to cast their eyes down to see Amadou licking their boots. +2 to networking checks involving MCT SINners.
Wannabe Crime Lord Deep down, Zheng is simply a Yakuza fanboy. He knows power players' names by heart, and hopes to one day count himself among them. +2 to networking checks involving members of the Yakuza
Fell Through the Cracks Being the head of warehouse security certainly has its perks. +2 to gear acquisition checks for MCT products.
Can't Spell "Smuggler" Without "Smug" Looking to travel abroad on a budget? Need to skip town after a job gone bad? Your good buddy Zheng has got your back, so long as it isn't more profitable than "transporting" you into a landfill. +2 to networking checks involving smugglers.
Lawyer Up When you're the victim of as many lawsuits as Zheng, you need a team that you can trust. +2 to networking checks involving attorneys and other legal professionals.
Livin' the Dream What's the point of making money if you aren't having fun? Name a debauched nightlife activity, and Zheng has probably been banned from it already. +2 to knowledge and networking checks involving the city's high-class nightlife
Working Relationships Working with a stone cold psycho does have its perks. Mental instability, violent tendencies, crippling personality flaws- so long as you're bringing in that sweet sweet nuyen, Zheng could not care less. For each point of loyalty above 1, ignore a point of notoriety when making a roll.
Big Ego, Small Man For all his posturing as a hard-bitten Yak, Zheng is actually a coward. If he is threatened with physical violence, he will fold like an origami crane. +4 to intimidation rolls made against him in person. Doing this instantly drops loyalty by 1. If the threats are made by another runner who doesn't have Zheng as a contact, "the boss is the boss" is triggered instead.
