A vampire mage seeks to join the most elite circles of magic - whatever those are. Whatever means necessary, whatever that takes.

She's not telling anybody about that, though. Nope! Just a genuinely great person, here. No problems whatsoever.

Background

A child of privilege - relatively speaking - Gehenna was born to friends of a certain member of the Black lodge - one Silas Vespasiano. The family would host parties, make political donations, and provide behind-the-scenes support for him. Her father, Ferdinand Sinclair, works as an architect for the city, and is responsible for several structures downtown. Her mother Beatrice comes from a family that has been in real estate for generations in the area. Their connections in Seattle's that scene provided fine opportunities for providing building plans, information on secret tunnels, the ability to sneak clever escapes or passages into structures for later use by their allies - all things which the Black Lodge would like to know about and have access to, naturally. And when their daughter awakened as a Mage, well - all the better.

The structured lifestyle of the rich did not suit Gehenna - so she rebelled by throwing parties, sneaking out, and doing whatever she wanted. She even rebelled by selling secrets online - eventually, even getting into infobrokering circles in the shadows, trading data back and forth. Her biggest score, the one that got her onto The Nexus, was a set of dozens of floor plans for buildings down town, up to date with secret passages, security measures, structural failure points, saferoom locations and safes. A big score, which marked her as a troublemaker on Vespasiano's radar. It was natural that he'd take action to put this problem under control.

It all went away, though, when she received the shock of her life. On the way back from a party, she was intercepted by someone who seemed to know she was coming. A vampire.

In the name of keeping order, Silas influenced her parents into a method of "developing their daughter into a better mage." Though she couldn't have known it - and still doesn't - her parents arranged for her to be turned without her knowledge, in the hopes that a more powerful caster as a daughter would bring them further renown. This, of course, came with the added benefit that Silas would be able to add a powerful mage to his stable of runners that he can keep under his thumb. The family documented her as dead, and explained that she should build a reputation in the shadows, to build up to a new debut in society.

Their daughter Vivian Sinclair will obey - and use the power she gains to get out from under her thumb. For now, she'll start by leveraging those she knew while flipping info to the right buyers and leaning on her reputation as a mage.

But eventually, she'll uncover the truth behind her turning, and the truth behind the powerful figures her parents consorted with - even as they drip feed her clues as to the nature of the organization she sees in the shadows.

Narrative Significant Qualities

Positive

• Towering Ego (Dedicated Spellslinger, Metaviral Attunement, Too Pretty to Hit) - Gehenna considers herself to be above others, to the point that she will not deign to work with spirits and is happy to impose her will upon others.
• Relentless Gossip (Prime Datahaven Membership) - Being enough of a gossip to get good info has led Gehenna to interesting circles.

Negative

• Leaning Tower of Ego (Poor Self Control (Vindictive), Social Appearance Anxiety, Superhuman Psychosis) - Gehenna has a fragile, fragile ego. When someone challenges her or gets one over on her, she can't let it go, and anything that gives them ammo to insult her is unwelcome. Pawns should stay in their place.
• Driven (Join the Black Lodge) - Surprise of surprises, she wants to get back in her family's good graces by joining the Lodge.
• A Horror in the Mirror (Social Stress (Infected), Unsteady Hands) - Gehenna's deadly afraid of infected. Her nerves are tight as piano wire. And any time she's forced to acknowledge herself, she's as terrified as she is by any other infected. It's easy to leave her shaking in her boots.
