Pretty high casualties rate for the 1st Paratroopers Company, but low death count (mostly wounded) | Amrei has officially got killed, the SK line are rough up but they suffered equivalent Casualties with the N-51 |
Background
The N-51 and SK, especially Amrei have always been at each other's throat for a long time about the whole Blood Hawk affairs, in addition to all this the recent attack of an SK black site led Herr Brackhaus to put together a plan so runners who partaked in that assault get at each other to pay for the damage they did to the corporation. In addition the N-51 doesn't have the choice but to launch a risky offensive because they need to show off for the IMA agreement.
The Meet
Briefing occurs in Gigabite command center, the team will follow the N-51 plan for the operation, the paratroopers are to be drop during the night to disrupt the opration of SK before the real offensive begin on the next morning. The main objective is a Saedder Krupp Headquarters located in an old bunker that has been rehabilitated.
The most notable thing is that in that bunker one could find Amrei Veidt a long time nemesis of the N-51, a valuable catch for the Rad Wars and even more so cause she probably has information useful to the Task Force. Preparation are made and the team is expected to board the A400M for a static line jump for 1:30 AM while Gigabite command center would be dropped by an helicopter.
The Run
After boarding the planes and an eventful travel to the Area of Operation, things went off pretty quickly as paratroopers and the team got ready to jump. The plane in which the team was got locked on, thankfully the pilot was good enough to avoid the first missile launch at the planes, this was the moment Shy choosed to unhook her static line to have the chance to take a shot at the ground forces targetting them and she nearly went off the plane with Fennec still attached to her. Gigabite herself would fall and get impaled on a pine tree that she had to saw to get to the ground for good. As all of this was unfolding the N-51 runners found themself under the bullet of Eidolon who had been called to reinforce SK's line up.
As soon as the runners managed to get off the plane though, a new missile was shot this time from a whole different angle and from a VTOL piloted by another runners: Red Rain who also took her chance to work with SK. After a few more attempt at their life, the N-51 runners and the paratroopers managed to surprinsgly reach the ground in one pieces, but scattered a bit too much due to the evasive manoeuvers and the really bad weather that made the jump pretty difficult. Both team got a bit of time to breath and to carry on with their advance, but that was the moment where the last runners who joined SK team made their appearence, Katherine Tyler took a shot at Shy which the adept dodged as she landed with Fennec.
The fighting intensified as Fennec went into the matrix to find Amrei and disrupt SK network while the two runners team were getting at each other's throat and that the Paratroopers of the N-51 were engaging the SK-Prime and other locals goons. Red Rain took another shot at Shy who got saved by the yelling of Gigabite, the ghoul rigger would then realise that another Ares Venture was in her airspace this one was from the UCAS and a dogfight started to go on.
After another small break in the fighting, the N-51 resumed their offensive and swept the nearby area to found the SK-prime unit who vanished thanks to RPC, Shy engaged an Iron Company leutenant, while Kate went on the matrix to help Amrei get rid of the Matrix Fox, Red Rain still busy with the other Venture couldn't offer much help on the ground, but Eidolon was IR painting the support squad of the paratroopers to force them to keep moving rather than facing artillery fire. Blackhawk would join the centaur killing fun time and send bullet to punch through his guts.
Thunder who had been cast away during the job, found himself slightly isolated and under heavy fire for a moment but quickly managed to rejoin the friendly line as the fighting grew even more intense. Friends now turned into foe by the scheme of Herr Brackhaus were at each other throat. And already some were receiving grievous wounds, Fennec got hit by a lot of Fade, Shy nearly died again if not for her revenant adept powers and was on the brink of getting captured by Bucephalus.
While any further escalation seemed unlikely, the fighting managed to get even more intense as report of Fovae incoming were getting clear and that Gigabite advocate for the team to leave or at least join the command center. While Fennec was glad to get a chance to have a bit of safety, the others runners continued to fight each other while Kate and Shy sworded against one another. Blackhawk was busy getting rid of the last of the SK goons or at least forcing them into retreat. The N-51 stormed the bunker holding Amrei who finally asked Eidolon to leave after thanking him for the job he'd put through.
Aftermath
Amrei surrendered to the N-51 and started to talk with Shy who ended up being the sole runners still on site. For all that is worth, the offical version is that Amrei ended up getting shot by the adept after having told her about the virus she put in the Dassault framework to get sure the N-51 would never manage to steal the BloodHawk. Player After Action Reports (AARs)
Fennec - Wow! That was - ohmygosh wow my head hurts wow - wait, no it doesn't, we decided it doesn't so it doesn't. Anyway! I fought two different deckers (not at the same time but don't tell chat that), and they were both like - Iron-tier-titans next to me! They're so big! And I'm so small! Just a tiny little matrix fox. Except I'm also a glorious matrix fox goddess, because I did everything I needed to - I kept them busy for way longer than should have been possible, since your glorious golden goddess of a matrix fox was able to simply bounce their attacks off. Sure, I couldn't scratch them, but that's okay! I didn't need to! Keeping us buffed up and their deckers off our stuff was good enough for me! Truly, I am the best.
Thunder: Warzone! A month in the SOX and then this. From the beginning of the operation and throughout the complete engagement we were just eating it. Lead for breakfast, supper and dinner. And as if that wasn't enough, in between meals as well. The plane got shot at. I got shot at as soon as i jumped out of it. We re-grouped and got shot at. We were done and ready and we didn't just get shot at, but there ended up being a swords duel on the top of our transport. My skills and knowledge about heavy machine guns were subjected to a serious realty check. The mechanics of heavy automatic ballistics are rather different from using my composite bow. I think I've learned a lot and after going through the operation in my head and hitting the shooting range every spare second after this run, I think I've managed to fix my worst weaknesses with the heavy machine gun (it's it own thing, don't try to wield it like if you were at a high-school archery tournament).
Katherine Tyler - Hmm...to call it exciting would be an understatement. And yet, the whole affair left a bad taste in my mouth. I had promised to pull my punches against members of Shadowhaven, but still managed to almost kill two of them. It's a whole different thing when the enemy are people you like, and respect. I don't think I'll be doing anything like this again. Working for S-K and pretending to be a Corpo has been an enlightening adventure, but it's not for me. I feel I have several rifts to mend after this.
