Summary

A baby technomancer preparing to survive year 2 of college; she has goals to meet, but she'll probably run her mouth into some trouble before that.

• Make enough money to take care of her older brother Crane when his body job guard eventually ends. Probably horribly.

Background

Born and raised in Hong Kong, Lumin doesn't know much of her parents, or her brother. She knows her other brother was an Otaku, and her father died at the hands of Renraku. She knows Crane is fueled by revenge against Renraku. Raised from an early age by her elder brother, he always put her first--Protecting her, her education, and her future first. While she lived as close to a normal childhood as someone SINless could, she watched her brother hop from job to job, and eventually join the Triads for their own safety. For a while, things were stable. Until her junior year of high school, that is. Crane's revenge got to his head, and he uprooted her from her home to Seattle.

Spending her junior year of high school miserable in Seattle, it was compounded by the stress of learning an entirely new culture and language, and that caused her to emerge. Panicked and afraid, she retreated into her studies, which conveniently lined up with what her schooling had been teaching. Dabbling in both the matrix and the resonance, she spent that year in high school living two lives--At home, and at school, she was just a normal nerdy teenage girl. Still juggling that double life, while her classmates bragged about which elite colleges were courting them with offers of scholarships and places on lacrosse teams, Lumin is counting down the days until June of 2083 when she's finally going to be graduated.

Outside of that though, when her brother left the house for work, which she's begun to suspect is the Triads once more, she'd go out and practice on the deserted hosts she could find. At her internship with the Seattle times, she was exposed to the shadowrunning community of Seattle when she caught Aaron Knight acting at the J to some runners to dig up information on a new Horizon product. The runner's own 'decker' caught wind of her, and after a tense exchange, Lumin was left with the commcode to Sarah Snow. Now when 'Mrs. Snow' calls, she answers.

Then two years whipped by and now Lumin is juggling community college, bribing officials to stay in school and trying to keep her brother Crane from going stir crazy.

Narrative Significant Qualities

Positive

Just a baby (techno) (Better on the Net (Sleaze), Brilliant Heuristics, Technomancer, Trust Lore Not Data) - Lumin is both young in terms of life experience, but also young in terms of experience in Seattle, being a Technomancer, and being a runner.

Hong Kong Transplant (Bilingual (Cantonese, English), Cynic) - Growing up in HK, Lumin grew quickly aware of the nature of man, and how quickly you could get back stabbed. This stuck with her when she moved to Seattle, and pushed herself to learn English, so no one could take advantage of her being an immigrant.

Negative

Little Sister (Allergy (Common, Extreme, Soy), Designated Omega) - While she may be all fire and sass, the fact of the matter is, Lumin has always had someone to look out for her and take care of her, meaning that she's never really experienced the shock of her food allergies, or make any sort of critical decisions. The leader knows what they're doing, that's why they're the leader!

Dedicated Babysitter (Day Job, 10hrs) - After the events of Humanis Lacks Humanity, at her brother's request, Lumin picked up a part time baby sitting job for Amia Finley in Everett. Most of the time it's a few hours of work each week, and then a place to hang out and do her homework, but sometimes it's more.
