Character Information

Summary

Narukami is a Cyborg with a synthetic body who mostly uses her sword with her enhanced Strength. She has a past with Ares Macrotechnology that she'd rather not talk about to anyone who isn't close enough.

Goals

Be strong enough and make enough money to survive reasonably comfortably, for her own sake and Sophia's. She also cares deeply about her sister and wants to fund her education someday, so she can realize her dream of being a medical technician

Background

Ariel Fortnea was a child born to struggling shadowrunner parents in Seattle who, one day, when Ariel was 16, never came home from the job they went out to do. Hungry and eventually kicked out on the streets for being unable to pay for her lodging alone, Ariel took to petty pickpocketing to survive. One day, she was caught by a man who went by "Armstrong.", who rather than turn her in for pickpocketing, fed Ariel and made her an offer to be a test subject for Ares Macrotechnology. Of course, Ariel signed the contract; she had no choice if she wanted to get off the street.

Armstrong, of course, was a representative for a new project meant to mass produce high end cybersoldiers on behalf of Ares Macro. He grinned widely when Ariel signed the contract without even looking. She would be dubbed under the project's name from henceforth; "Project Theseus"

The next 8 years were filled with events such as Ariel having parts of her body replaced and being combat trained through milityary grade simulations. No matter how loud she screamed, how much she cried, she was put through these trials over and over again in the name of "progress." Eventually, her personality began to change as she became more and more numb to the situation she was in. She became a proper soldier, and was forced into a cyborg body.

Things were going well for the project Theseus team, but higher management had different plans. Seeing how much money ares was sinking into the project, it left Armstrong and the others with no choice but to void Ariel's contract. When told she would be thrown out on the street, she finally snapped. What followed was a massacre at the Ares Macro building she was being kept in, earning her the nickname of "Jackie the Ripper" to any survivors.

Ariel spent the next two years on the run, where she ended up in Seattle working shadowrunner jobs just like her parents used to do. They were all very low grade; she had to keep a low profile. One thing that stuck with her was her burning desire to see cruel human experimentation put a stop to, and when a job involved shutting down one such EVO laboratory, she freed a batch of orphans who had been abducted for their experiments. One orphan was particularly attached to her, and she eventually ended up unofficially adopting her; they were both SINless now, after all. The orphan was named Sophia Emmerich, and she lives with Narukami to this day as she continues her work to support them both.

Narrative Significant Qualities

Positive

Cyber-Singularity Seeker: As Narukami began to accept the body she was put in, she began to see the power she now holds as a full body conversion cyborg. She can connect with her body even better than a regular metahuman in some ways.

Guts: All that combat training certainly means that nothing will faze Narukami. She's not one to flinch in the face of adversity.

Perfect Time: After honing her reflexes and putting them into action on "An Unfortunate Opening", Narukami has mastered the use of them.

Panzer: After successfully intimidating young ork punks in the second layer of the ork underground on "No, Not That Sushi", Narukami has learned to intimidate people with her appearance.

Shoot First, Don't Ask: After swiftly acting in "Knight Extortion", Narukami has learned how to ambush efficiently.

Negative

Distinctive style: Narukami has an entirely cybernetic body, being a jarhead, as well as striking long, synthetic, cyan hair.

Dependent: She is the guardian of her 16-year old adoptive sister Sophia Emmerich

Driven: Narukami will take any opportunity she can to stop any form of human experimentation, bonus points if it's Ares related or needlessly cruel.

Emotional Attachment: Narukami's Katana is an important keepsake to her, and the only weapon she fully feels comfortable using.

Vendetta: If Narukami should ever come across anyone from the team that worked on Project Theseus again, it is "On sight" as they say.

Prejudiced (Specific, Biased) - The Detroit Cleaveland metroplex pool of Ares employees have spotted her in an attempt to set up her and Garruda in Talent Aquisition 3 Lil Boom Boom, and she did not taked kindly to it.
