Summary

Gigs and Six begin their operation for crab cakes and peaceful coexistence with a train robbery. Trust me, it makes more sense later.

Background

Gigabite's been trying to talk with Aztlan border control, export bureaucracy and Ah-Tabai Consumer Goods business advisors for months in order to try and negotiate a deal where they can ship their crab cakes to Seattle to provide ghouls with a more ethical source of sustenance. She's had no success so far, although she's succeeded in convincing Blaine Hammond, leader of the Ghoul Liberation League, that she can achieve it one day.

The Meet

The meet happens in a Puyallup warehouse where Gigs finds an ork mercenary she met during Garish Goyles working security alongside some ghouls and a grendel leader. The Grendel introduces himself as an event organizer, detailing that the site is bound to be one of the core places for the Xquiq "Calabash" cake distribution. They even have an eccentric cook.

  • The grendel details some potential flies in the ointment.
    1. Crazy Eight (Owner of Crazy Eight casino in Downtown)
    2. Temple in The Shadows (Sending shipments to hunters to empower their attacks)
    3. Halloweeners (Likely mercenaries hired to burn down Ghoul Warrens)
    4. Ciarniello's (Italian Mafia, supporting the MSH)
    5. Joseph Anderson (Politician, with radical group)

The Plan

The team chooses to go after the Temple due to Six's connection with them.

The Run

Six arranges a meeting with Father Uriel and while the meeting is tense, Gigabite pulls out every last bit of statesman's guile she can muster and pleads with Uriel to remember the tenets of his own faith, to remember forgiveness and overlooking one's sins. She admits that she was there against the Temple's forces during Proverbs 30:14 and forgives them for killing innocent civilians who had taken refuge in the safehouse, at the same time asking them to forgive her for having taken the lives of his men. She points to Strain 1 Infected as being far more dangerous and that while she wishes they could coexist, Strain 1 will always have to hunt no matter what. As a result, she'll beseech the GLL and 162s to distance themselves from the Night Throne and vampires in general if Gigabite's efforts to provide sustainable, ethical food pulls through.

Uriel questions what to do about the Infected and their instinctive urges as well as their contagiousness. Gigabite once again rebuttals by providing herself as an example and that those who do not fall in with the desire to coexist, be careful and be harmonious will not enjoy the protection she requests from him. She also asks that if the contagiousness is such a risk, why isn't he going after non-infected carriers? Second generation Infected are sterile and as such the future is likely to be less contagious if more people are allowed to live with security and food, allowed to sequester away and not forced to go out trying to eat people.

It's a difficult plea to push, but Gigabite's efforts succeed just barely in convincing Father Uriel to see where the giant's efforts lead. He gives them the location of the train containing hunter supplies for the MSH and tells them that once it reaches their destination, their deal is off. Gigabite and Six both thank him for his generosity despite the weapons trained on the ghoul and depart to intercept the train.

Which they do. On top of Zigzag's ambulance. Six tears through compartment after compartment with encouragement and occasional assault cannon support from Gigs, grabs the three crates and with some effort tosses them over into the ambulance.

Aftermath

The hunters won't be as well equipped when they inevitably try to assault the distribution center.

Game Quotes

Player After Action Reports (AARs)

Gigabite: "Can't say I'm happy to see those zealots again, but I managed to make a difference. No shootouts. No dead bodies. Hell, even the hunters we hit didn't end up suffering casualties. They'll hurt, but they'll live. Maybe I'll be able to talk 'em down when it comes down to it. Watching Six work, though... damn."

Six_of_Hearts: "I swear I though Uriel was gonna just waste us... I mean, I've done some crazy shit... but bringing a very well known infected straight to him? But after listening to Gigs talk him into this crazy plan of hers? Ghost, she's a fucking savant. Besides that near heart attack, everything went as well as expected, with zero casualties. Can't ask for better results."
