Summary
In which shadowrunners help Brodie J and Saint Nick bring the holiday spirit to those who wouldn't otherwise get some
Background
Brodie J has developed a brand new prototype for the Manaverse Engine, a potential clean energy source, and has teamed up with Saint Nick in order to bring holiday joy to everyone who might be too busy to enjoy it. Given that our jolly old troll is unable to reach everyone in the Sixth World in a reasonable amount of time, he's teamed up with the corpkid and engineer to get shadowrunners to deliver gifts to friends and family that might not be able to celebrate the holiday for some reason.
The Meet
Coming to Santa's workshop in Snohomish, Samsara, Lumin, Saint, and Thunder are greeted by the sight of an albino lion and a large alligator wearing fake reindeer horns and attached to what appears to be a giant sleigh with some pulsing and glowing attachment to it. Going inside the workshop the group find Saint Nick and Brodie J having some cocoa while they discuss their plans. Brodie J takes the group out to the "sleigh" a large aircraft of his own design powered by the new prototype of the Manaverse engine, which Samsara and Thunder realize is pulling in and converting the ambient mana into energy while somehow not creating a mana void. Brodie J gives them a list of people made up of contacts and acquaintances of himself and his "boiz" who would not have time to celebrate Christmas because they would be "too busy" and not celebrating Christmas (or other appropriate regional/religious/secular winter holidays) is a party foul and tells them to deliver gifts marked with the names to the individuals on the list.
The Plan
Deciding to take off and tackle the Eastern side of the world first, Gator, Awimbawe, and Cascade load up onto the sleigh and take off with the runners. The Manaverse engine jetting them to ludicrous speeds almost immediately while they head for Osaka.
The Run
Reaching Shiawase HQ, the runners decide that smaller teams are better, so Thunder and Lumin stay in the vehicle, with Lumin running Matrix support to disable alarms in the ventilation system while Thunder keeps astral lookout. Saint and Samsara sneak in through the roof ventilation access (once the group has successfully parachuted onto the corp's roof) and make it to the MIFD department where they sneak around the many seers to get to the central office where Hanako Shinoda is awaiting them with an attack raccoon in the form of Shifu. The runners explain that they are here as Santa's helpers and give Hanako her gift, the diviner allowing the group to leave and Cascade manages to repair the sleigh so they can return to their trip.
The next stop is Hong Kong, where the group find Wong Fang's shipping department and warehouse. Thunder summons a spirit of man to appear while Saint and Samasara climb up the outside of the building to try and get to the executive's office. The spirit is able to get into the building and unlock the windows for the street samurai, however it is very quickly assaulted by the martial artist and forced to disappear while the present is snuck onto Wong Fang's desk and the group makes it back to the sleigh.
The next stop on the whirlwind tour of the world is Vladivostok, Russia where the group are directed to a small bar in the frigid wilds outside the city. The group see the mark of the red sickle upon the door, but don't immediately recognize it, deciding instead to walk into the bar. Samsara approaches the bartender while Saint locates Irena Tachikov and the EVO acquisitions expert takes interest in the ware of the young cyberonin. Though as Saint asks the Russian woman to step outside for a moment and she refuses the conversation becomes much more tense until the present is finally revealed and Saint is violently but non-harmfully ejected from the bar.
Stop four is Essen, Germany, where S-K aerial defences are deployed against the runners and the sleigh is targetted by a missile. Lumin is able to hack through the missiles defenses and deactivate it, letting Samsara and Thunder catch it so that it doesn't explode on the streets below. Lumin is then contacted by Amrei Veidt and asked what they are doing in Saeder-Krupp airspace and who they were. Explaining that they were intending on leaving a present, the decker allows them to land in a controlled port and for Lumin to go in alone. The young virtual kinetic goes to Amrei's office in the university building nearby where she is greeted by Amrei. The corporate decker is impressed by the technomancer's abilities, and offers her a business card, telling her that they could come to an arrangement if she wanted to come study in S-K's Matrix specialist program under some scholarships. Thanking her for the possibility but not committing to the offer, Lumin returns to the sleigh and the group make their way back to North America.
Arriving in Montreal at the Cross building, Lumin is once again contacted, this time by a pixie-like sprite able to sense her Resonance, and the foresight of Cecelia Cross understanding that her boyfriend and puppet would be trying something with his new invention and the holiday spirit. The corporate technomancer inviting the shadowrunner into her office. As Lumin walks to the office she begins to hear a discordance in the Resonance, but one that doesn't sound bad, simply of another tone. Cecelia explains that this is known as the Dissonance to those with little imagination, an ability to control and shape the matrix beyond even what the Resonance offers. Sensing a desire from Lumin to learn more, Cecelia offers a business card of her own and extends VIP passes to E-Vue.
The final stop for the group is a return to Seattle, where they stop by Horizon's news offices and drop a present off outside Charli Relford's dressing room under Thunder disguising themselves as a fan, and then finally outside Vee-Jay's apartment as a surprise before returning to Santa's workshop.
Aftermath
The group decide to go for drinks and Brodie J celebrates a Christmas success.
