Character Information

Summary

Stygian is a bit of an enigma on the scene. Some say they feel a charge around him while others say the air seem thick and heavy. In spite of this, people still seem to gravitate towards him with little difficulty. Perhaps, in part, because he carries himself with a suave and sometimes genial confidence like a well-tailored suit. He's often seen about the clubs and streets "people watching", among other things, when he's not on a job.

Background

The boy that would later become Stygian was born and grew up in London. His parents were avid scholars of Awakened Phenomena and Thaumaturgy and often brought in as independent consultants and speakers. It was lucrative enough work for their careers. Then there was traffic accident and both his parents were killed. The young lad was left an orphan, and the sole-beneficiary of a trust fund setup by his parents. Going through the foster system for a few years was bad enough to leave him with a strange cynicism regarding others and their... questionable reasons.

His most treasured possession, during those dreary years, was a journal that he had stolen from his parents supposedly about their research in Black Magic. As a child in the UK, and in accordance with the laws, he had been tested and registered as one of the "awakened" members of society. Continued testing with good strong marks led to him being educated at Cambridge in Thaumatugical courses. While he wasn't a prodigy or genius, he managed to excel in his own way during his college years. A few A-ranked corps attempted to recruit him, but he ultimately proved to be a bad fit for all of them. His mediocre to low marks caused other corps to either pass him over or not even show up on their radar.

Now into his mid-twenties and finished with his education, he's relocated from "the Smoke" to Seattle. His parents trust covers his room and board, but he wants more out of life. In his mind, what better way to make that happen than to wheel and deal in the shadows.

Narrative Significant Qualities

• SINner (United Kingdom) - Being born a Brit and having grown up in the UK with any awakened talent means having to be registered with the government as per the Magical Practitioners Registration Bill.

• Trust Fund/Creature of Comfort - Because of his parents planning and forethought, a trust was set-up for him. The result is, of course, he's used to living that way now and gets rather testy about having to do the occasional "slumming".
