Pure adept, disgraced former Yakuza enforcer, on a journey to undo some of the harm he has done.

Background

Takeshi was, until recently, a high ranking enforcer in a Japanese Yakuza family; charged with the protection of the oyabuna as well as being the head of security for the family. He was highly respected for his unimpeachable honor and impressive skill with a blade; skills and wisdom learned from a lifelong mentorship by the Stag spirit.

Takeshi was ruthlessly efficient in his duty to his oyabun, but he was not cruel. His personal code would not tolerate harm to people who were not directly involved in the yakuza's affairs. Once someone was involved with the Yakuza though, you either toed the line or you went toe to toe with Takeshi.

As the Oyabun aged and his eldest son began taking a more active role in the family leadership, things began to go downhill. The eldest son was much more ambitious; looking to expand his family's territory and his personal power base. He and Takeshi frequently came into conflict, because of the increasingly dishonorable things the enforcers were being asked to do.

A few months after the son formally succeeded the father as oyabun, the son secretly fomented a gang war with a long-time ally in order to curry favor with a long time rival, who the New oyabun son pericieved as stronger. During the ensuing fighting Takeshi was forced to fight and kill people he knew and respected. But Takeshi was led to believe their leader had initiated hostilities; the influence of the stag spirit brooked no debate.

After the fighting Takeshi discovered his oyabun was really the one to strike first and had used takeshi to do it. Takeshi killed him in a fit of rage, and fled the country with the assistance of some contacts still personally loyal to him.

He ended up in hiding in the foothills of Mt Rainier, where he met his Sensei. He found a Female Korobokuru, meditating deep in the woods. Turns out it was the legendary swordswoman Koda Onimusha. She too was an adept with a connection to the stag spirit and was on her yearly pilgrimage to one of the spirit mentor's sacred places. Given how clear it was that the stag spirit had brought them together, Master Koda agreed to take takeshi as her disciple. An honor only bestowed upon one being every 10 years. Once her pilgrimage has concluded she took takeshi to her compound in Seattle, where they began their training.

The stag spirit has been Takeshi's mentor since birth. It guided his growth as an adept and laid the groundwork of his skill with blades.

Sensei (Koda Onimusha)

Koda Onimusha is a female Koborokuru, master swordswoman, and acolyte of the stag spirit. She is well known in martial arts circles and only takes an apprentice once every 10 years. Takeshi met her during his hermitage in the foothills of Mt. Rainier, after a fairly heavyhanded intervention by the Stag spirit. To bring the both together

Though he was bamboozled, he did attack an ally; killing respected colleagues, in an unprovoked first strike. To say nothing of the regicide he committed by killing his oyabun when he realized the betrayal. Takeshi is working on forgiving himself with the instruction of his sensei

Signature

As part of his new identity as a runner, and at the behest of his sensei, Takeshi has begun leaving a custom throwing knife embedded in a surface as a way to celebrate his victories; an important act of self love; and one that will ultimately force him to face his past

Takeshi is an Oni metabariant of orc. He has a long mane of dark b blue hair through which several horns protrude, as well as bright blue skin and pronounced outwardly-curved tusks on his upper and lower jaw.
