Pure adept, disgraced former Yakuza enforcer, on a journey to undo some of the harm he has done.

Background

Takeshi was, until recently, a high ranking enforcer in a Yakuza family; charged with the protection of the oyabuna as well as being the head of security for the family. He was highly respected for his unimpeachable honor and impressive skill with a blade; skills and wisdom learned from a lifelong mentorship by the Stag spirit.

Takeshi was ruthlessly efficient in his duty to his oyabun, but he was not cruel. His personal code would not tolerate harm to people who were not directly involved in the yakuza's affairs. Once someone was involved with the Yakuza though, you either toed the line or you went toe to toe with Takeshi.

As the Oyabun aged and his eldest son began taking a more active role in the family leadership, things began to go downhill. The eldest son was much more ambitious; looking to expand his family's territory and his personal power base. He and Takeshi frequently came into conflict, because of the increasingly dishonorable things the enforcers were being asked to do.

A few months after the son formally succeeded the father as oyabun, the son secretly fomented a gang war with a long-time ally in order to curry favor with a long time rival, who the New oyabun son pericieved as stronger. During the ensuing fighting Takeshi was forced to fight people he knew and respected. But Takeshi was led to believe their leader had initiated hostilities, despite their alliance.

Despite the advice of the old oyabun to exercise restraint and investigate the situation, the new oyabun was quick to declare the alliance void and that they would retaliate.

-Takeshi's connection to the stag spirit pushed him towards exacting retribution for the slight against him and his people, so he too was in favor of swift action; offering to personally lead the war party. The young oyabun accepted Takeshi's offer, and the implied olive branch and thinks were looking up for their relationship.
-Takeshi and his men launched a night raid on all the facilities of their former allies, with takeshi leading the assault on the main compound. They met with stiff resistance, but none were a match for Takeshi. The Battle against the enemy Oyabun's personal guard was a grim one. Takeshi knew these men personally and none of the mwanted to fight.
-The enemy oyabun told Takeshi outright that he was being decieved; that the attack on his men was perpetrated by the hirelings of his own Oyabun. But takeshi's blood was up, and he took the information as further disrespect for which the enemy enforcers and oyabun paid in blood.
-With the battle concluded, Takeshi returned to base; far earlier than the other teams. So early in fact that he was unexpected. He stumbled upon a meeting between his oyabun and the oyabun of a long time rival syndicate, drinking and laughing about the genius of their scheme to begin a gang war for their mutual benefit.
-Unsurprisingly, Takeshi reacted poorly. He killed everyone in the room; his oyabun, the enemy oyabun, their personal guards, and everyone between himself and his escape from the compound.
