Summary

Elmo is building out his new office and staff and needs a team to go round up a Redmond legend that he is embarrassed he's never actually laid eyes on. This one requires some delicacy or could kick off a conflagration between two of the biggest Trog Gangs in the Metroplex. While it did not go with much finesse, just enough delicate discussion was had to keep the peace and move things along.

Background

Yerz the Killer is an absolute chad of an enforcer. A long term Crimson Crush legbreaker, Yerz has been collecting debts and enforcing rackets around Redmond since before Touristville was a district. Rumors have always abounded that in his early days Yerz was a hell of a rapper and rap battler, and a few years back a bunch of clips of him doing the occasional streetside rap. As the enforcer started picking up a little more local fame, the crush realized how much they stood to lose if Yerz actually broke into public fame or recognition and paid the local Yaks to have him erased. Making tracking him down a bit more of a challenge than the teams often had, but a challenge right in the back yard of Elmo's office.

The Meet

The meet was unceremoniously at the Stubitz and Assts new office building which is opening up in the recently gentrified stretch of Redmond south of Hollywood North of Touristville, in Crimson Crush Territory. Elmo figuring it was the most discrete location for things, given the nature of the available team.

Reign does some of Elmo's Novacoke, putting the run on a crash timer for the functional face of the group. Elmo is a devastating negotiator, rebuffing Reigns attempt at getting a ware gear rate. He is also very clear that this needs to be incredibly discreet so the Crimson Crush doesn't up his rent or come knocking on his door, or start a beef between the Skraacha and the Crush over a record contract he's not even sure is valid.

The Plan

Go find some Crimson Crush members and work their way up the ladder.

There was not much of a plan for this one.

The Run

The team leaves Elmo's quietly through the side gate and heads over to Crusher 495, where they stick out like a sore thumb as they walk in between community dinner hour and the raucous night scene starting to trickle in. They get made by the ancient ork bartender and Grackle promptly gives the worst explanation for the tiger in the bar. A heavily disguised Reign steps in to explain it's there for some Crush members who wanted to see it and buys the group some time, a bluff which sells and Colcannon closes with some nasty trog vibes. Also, after a few minutes of catching skink eye from the local patrons the gang realizes they are sticking out like a sore thumb, so Reign picks up a few pitchers of Hurllg for the group. Leading to a nasty drug interaction and putting her even more on the clock.

The group hangs out a couple hours until a few pods of Crush arrive, and target the weakest cell of the gang in the bar. A young crew of new recruits who are a little more easily swayed. The gang fast talks them into it being a tiger they were paid to bring for Yerz himself and are looking for him. This escalates things to a SGT at Arms of a larger cell of Crush gangers and repeating the cycle, ultimately getting the gang invited to a more secret Crimson Crush clubhouse about 20 minutes north in Redmond.

They arrive at the warehouse and schooze and intimdiate their way into what they realize is an illegal fighting and gambling pit and make themselves at home rapidly. Finding Mauler, the Crush LT who runs the place and who Yerz the Killer answers to directly. After a tense discussion with Mauler, he agrees to set a meeting with Yerz if Colcannon can go a round or two in the fighting pits, given Yerz a break from them (where he is currently hammering an opponent with an osmium mace.)

During the subsequent electrical beating Colcannon lays down, Yerz cleans up and comes over to chat. It does not take long for the group to realize Yerz is about as dumb as the mace he was swinging and that Mauler does most of the talking (and thinking) for the grizzled old troll. It is tense negotiation with Reign's synapses on the line but Colcannon's showing upped the mood of the place quite a bit and grackle subtly pushed Yerz with an influence spell to reallllly want to get drunk with the tiger.

Ultimately Mauler agrees to a meeting if he's able to go, armed, and drive himself if the tiger can beat Yerz in a hurlg drinking contest. Maneater barely out drinks the Troll who throws up a bit before she goes under, leading to a new taste on the preferred flavor profile of the shifter. Reign makes an arrangement through Kari to get a detox prep dropped in Bellevue on her way to the underhaven, narrowly avoiding a potentially critical drug crash.

The gang finds out about the Grey and the Secret tunnel road through the underground, and Grackle has a major realization about the Underhaven Skraacha and the fact that they seemingly understand how to stabilize pieces of the Alchera of the OU. The Underhaven Skraacha are waiting with a rep of Crime Time to talk to Yerz and Mauler and the team leaves them to discuss it amongst themselves, leading to a newfound friendship and bargaining chip tying two of the largest Seattle Trog Gangs together in a new and interesting way.

Aftermath

Redmond Street Legend Yerz The Killer, while ultimately not willing to sign a Horizon record deal at this time, does agree to a small guest appearance at the Or'zet Underground Festival and a few guest appearances on some related tracks with Crime Time inc as an indy label. Perhaps more intriguing, several successful high stakes negotiatons involving chugging hurlg with tigers and bare knuckle brawling lead to a friendly sit down between high ranking Lt's of the Skraacha and the Crimson Crush to discuss the future of Yerz, as a high dollar commodity and olive branch for both groups and the Skraacha's current benefactor, Crime Time.

Game Quotes

Player After Action Reports (AARs)

Reign “You know, I literally do high stakes negotiation for a job, and this was still more scary.”]]

Colcannon "If every run is like this, you guys are wild. I met a talking tiger, and tiny little mage, and a lady I swear I recognize from a pinup calendar I had. The work itself was pretty cool, I choked a Crush member out, and no one tried to kill me for it."

Grackle "I'm glad I could help you all on this job, friends! Feel free to message me,, if you ever wanna, like, hang out after work, too! Uh, as an aside, do any of you know a good hangover-cure for tigers? I ah... think Maneater's having a rough time."

Maneater "This.. Hurlg substance.. While I question it's ability for nourishment- it does not appear to be as tasteless as drinks usually are for me... I am interested.."
