Summary
Summary
Trades is a tech specialist that primarily uses complex forms. She has a secondary focus as a generalist using her skillwires. She also works as a supporter using her machine sprites.
Trades is a matrix infiltrator and rigger who uses her living persona and extensive augmentations to help her crack systems. She barely has a spark of the resonance in her, but she's eager to develop the new matrix powers to replace what she had before.

Goals
Goals
Become a sourceror<br>
*Find a way to keep paying for her skillsoft subscription. There aren’t a lot of ways to earn 10k nuyen per month, so she’s taken to shadow-running to make the money. Maybe someday she’ll be able to get out from under their thumb by building up a personal collection of skillsofts.
Hoard as much data as she can.<br>
*<s>Figure out how to form a PAN, if she was able to feed targeting data from her living RCC, then she'd be able to drastically shift the field of battle for her allies.</s> Oops, that's embarrassing, turns out Trades could do make one all along.
Become a true jack of all trades.<br>
*Develop mastery over the resonance alike to what she had as an otaku.<br>
Develop mastery over the resonance.<br>
*Upgrade her control rig. She's decided to walk the path of the rigger, and a control rig is one of the greatest tools in their arsenal<br>
*Get herself a force 20 magical lodge. Just to style on all the mages without one. (Next attempt on 8/1)<br>
*<s>Become a sourceror.</s> Oops, Trades enjoyed using vehicles and drones so much that her resonance aligned itself to the machinist stream.<br>

Background
Background
Born in Seattle, Trades was identified by her former tribe around the age of 7. She spent the next two years slowly being initiated into the mysteries of the matrix. Finally, it was time for her initiation into the resonance. When she returned from her time in the deep resonance, she could see the matrix in a new way. Where some might have seen the cluttered and patchwork symbology, Trades saw the elegant construction of underlying code. She took to her new skills with a great appetite leading a brief, but successful career as a shadowrunner leading up to Crash 2.0. Crash 2.0 also drew the curtain on her brief career as a shadowrunner since her abilities didn't translate into her emerging as an early technomancer. As data was gathered on technomancers and their relationship to essence, Trades began to suspect that her extensive augmentation may have been responsible for why she didn't emerge like many of the other otaku. She spent the next 2 decades working in Retrofit's clinic as her assistant using their skillwires. <br>

In late 2084, Trades started to notice that she was able to do more in the matrix than should have been possible with just her datajack. It felt a little like how it had been to be an otaku, so she attempted another pilgrimage to the deep resonance in the hopes that maybe she might find answers. The deep resonance was lost to her like every other otaku, but she did manage to reach the resonance realms. When she arrived at Kernel Panic she was struck by another transcendental moment. It was as if she had been looking at the new matrix through a pair of blurry glasses and things had finally come into focus. Things slotted into place in her brain and her living persona sparked to life for the first time. Now she's back on the streets, and eager to restart her career as a shadowrunner.

During her first mission with the Shadowhaven, Trades and her team infiltrated a cargo ship in order to perform a data steal from the triads. She joined KAPTAIN KILLDOZER's crew and briefly hijacked the cargo ship. She shot a water spirit with an assault cannon, and began to realize that maybe the life of a rigger might be for her. During her second mission, she performed another aquatic infiltration in order to extract a researcher from Universal Omnitech. She was able to cleanly get her team in and out without detection leaving her feeling pretty good. On her third mission, she went to New York to crack a hedge fund's plan to collapse the economy in order to make crazy amounts of money. Fortune smiled on her, and she's found herself with a surfeit of luck since then. Finally, she joined a mission to Germany in order to blackmail a quartermaster into selling weapons like his predecessor. During the mission, she joined a local escort in blackmailing and seducing the target, which has left her complicated feelings about the experience.

Positive
Trades is a former Otaku even if it took awhile for her to emerge <br>
* Like a lot of former otaku, Trades has a razor sharp mind. The resonance feels familiar to her even if it's a little bit off and a lot more muted. <br>
Her teammates can trust her to keep their most important gear safe as part of her PAN.<br>
* She's a ronin. She'll never be the first to break under pressure, and she'll never leave anyone behind. If that means getting captured in order to stabilize a team-mate, then that's a trade she's willing to make.<br>
A lot of matrix specialists can't move and hack; Trades can do both at the same time.<br>
* A lot of matrix specialists can't move and hack; Trades can do both at the same time. She's not afraid to be on-site with her team.<br>
The matrix is never far away for Trades. She can start hacking at a moment's notice.<br>
* She has a teacher who's been helping her master her complex forms.<br>
* Trades has a keen eye for spotting icons from truly monumental distances.<br>
* When it's time for a fight, you can find Trades already moving before others have realized something is up.<br>
* Trades has cut her teeth on aquatic infiltration missions. She's learned how to best cover her approach on water.<br>
* On her trip to New York, fate conspired with Trades in order to see her succeed. She's a lot luckier than other runners.<br>
* During her run in the ork underground, Trades proved herself capable of lining up the perfect shot with her drones.
* Trades resonance has aligned itself with the Stream of the Machinist. She can see forever, and control her drones more effectively.
* Trade's Armadillo sneaked past a Pentex HTR with the help of her team during their mission in Quebec, and she's picked up a couple of tricks to keep themselves hidden in groundcraft since then.
*Trades is only a moments notice away from falling into the matrix and wielding her considerable mastery.
*Machine sprites are kind of Trades' jam. She vibes with them and they vibe with her.
*On her way to meet the mysterious machinist for a job, Trades smacks her head on top of her Armadillo's door knocking some Common Sense into her head.
*Trades has managed to codify a set of best practices for her work when processing large amounts of data during her time in New Orleans.
*When her team raided the Renraku-Yakuza wedding, Trades was taking notes on the different techniques used by her companions during their infiltration.
*Trades has developed stronger infiltration skills with her anthromorph drones after successfully stealthily rescuing Feliz Argyle from the grasps of Mother of Mayhem
*Aerial reconnaissance is also something that Trades is talented at. She's figured out how to best minimize her chances of detection during an approach.

Negative
Negative
Is there data lying around? Trades can't help herself; she needs to grab a copy to peruse in her leisure time.<br>
* Trades got left behind by her team once when she was an otaku. That hopeless sinking feeling she felt as she realized that there would be no rescue is something she can't bear to inflict on somebody else.<br>
Trades can hardly stand to see the world without the filter of augmented reality. <br>
* Indiscriminate murder? Not really Trade's jam. If she's going to kill a person, then they had better have done something to deserve it.<br>
Trades can't handle her drinks. She also can't handle her drugs, but she's got a firmer grasp on that.
* Clothes are a hobby of Trades! She's particular about her outfits, and if things aren't just right, then it'll put her off her game.<br>
* Did you know there was so much cool info on the matrix? Trades loves chasing down factoids and tid-bits of news. If someone is talking about something interesting, then she'll probably go listen to that. <br>
* A lot of otaku were weaker than their mundane counterparts. Trades is just about as strong as a particularly perturbed cat.

Retrofit- They've been working with Trades since their days as Ultrabyte the Otaku. Retrofit helped Trades find a new life after crash 2.0 helping do firmware setup for cyberware in her clinic.
*Funk - Trades and him road tripped their way back from Quebec with their stolen vehicles. She looks forward to working with him again in the future.<br>
*Retrofit - They've been working with Trades since their days as Ultrabyte the Otaku. Retrofit helped Trades find a new life after crash 2.0 as well as providing gender-affirming care. They were able to secure vat time for Trades to complete their physical transition in late 2075<br>
*Heward Smith - A frequent visitor to Retrofit's clinic. Trades has spent a good part of the last 10 years helping put him back together. He serves as the clinics liaison with criminal elements helping to keep it safe from the depredations of nearby gangs. Trades has served as his back-up during countless tense meetings.<br>
*Norville Craddock - Trades worked for him on a mission to steal some paydata on magical reagants from the triads. His mysterious aura makes him seem like someone that she wants to get to know better. Trades went to seek advice from Norville after her mission in Germany to try and process her feelings about being an active participant in seduction during the mission. When she was worried about her team betraying her after hunting the dragon bear in Quebec, Trades went to Norville for support and to share the information about the magical reagants. She hopes that he'll make sure that she doesn't get disappeared by one of them. Trades was more than happy to give Norville first pick of the blackmail information she dug up while searching for Roxxy's boyfriend.<br> When Hextech offered her a job, Trades tapped Norville in order to get her hands on some infiltration equipment that she wouldn't have normally be able to afford. Now she's trying to pay him back for the favor and get themselves back to an equilibrium. After her trip to New Orleans, she spent time talking with him about the Shedim and other magical things that might come up during her time as a shadowrunner. During her mission for Hextech, Trades called in a chip and owed
*Wusan - After acquiring her fishing boat, Trades has started living on the water. Wusan helps her dodge patrols and arrange for enough fish to feed her. In exchange, she helps clean up the sea and pays her rent in drams of reagants. After managing to pay her second month of rent, the trust between Wusan and Trades has grown as they begin to believe that the other will maintain their side of the bargain.<br> Trades called upon Wusan's aid in order to help her infiltrate during Hextech's job. She earned a spirit marker as a sign of their agreement. Wusan has held up their end of the bargain, and now it's Trades' turn to show that they can be trusted.
*That's the Spirit! - Trades helped Casey develop their acting chops and build their street cred by helping them rob Trade's truck. The team fended off some actual robbers while Trades kept Casey safely in the back
*Roxxy Sparks - When her boyfriend went missing, Trades and her team scoured through Bellevue to rescue him in time for his show later that night. They managed to recover him, albeit, slightly worse for the wear. He managed to get patched up enough to put on a performance.
*Miss Amanda Jones - During her mission in Germany, Amanda and Trades seduced and blackmailed Major Wolfgang ‎Müller of the MET 2000 in order to coerce him into selling weapons to Professor Buhl. <br>
*Bellerophon-He hired Trades to hunt a rampaging dragon bear in Quebec. He doesn't seem like the sort of person who would help Ty hide a corpse, but maybe he has hidden depths.
*Carleton  Moreau - He hired Trades to steal a silver railroad spike in Quebec, so that he can summon a ghost train which will travel across the trans-canadian railway.<br>
*Camille Delacroix - Carleton Moreau paid for Trades and her team to stay with Camille while they were stealing the silver railroad spike in Quebec.<br>
*Andre Monet - Trades and company busted some fascists for him and gave him the credit. In exchange, he gave her his business card, which can help her get waved through security checks in Quebec. He didn't seem to ask too many questions when Trades made some of the criminal's goodies disappear.<br>
*Prof. Dr. Franz Andreas Buhl - He hired Trades for a mission in Germany where she and her team blackmailed a major into selling weapons to him. He got Trades a good fake SIN, so maybe she can do something to pay him back for that. <br>
*Corf - Corf is a good little minecart who can smuggle rotodrones equipped with sniper rifles into Canada.
*Julio - The owner of a small diner in Montreal. Trades is hoping to figure out a good way to move her vehicles between Montreal and Seattle to take advantage of the soon to be ghost train.
*Ramona - Julio's Fiance. She's a got an ear to the ground listening to the soul of Montreal.
*KAPTAIN KILLDOZER - Shiver yer timbers. Trades joined the merry crew of the KAPTAIN in order to perform an act of piracy upon the seven seas during her inaugural mission with the Shadowhaven. The crew grabbed the booty of paydata and made a clean getaway.<br>

Enemies
Enemies
*Stryker - During the mission in New Orleans where the team took out some Shedim, Stryker pulled a knife on the J during negotiations when things got tense. Trades resents him for staining her honor as a ronin through his actions. Her reputation was able to handle the stain, but she resents it all the same.

Trades generally wears her green jacket, although a picture is worth a thousand words, so I'd recommend taking a peek at her profile. She keeps a lot of her devices connected to her skin in order to take advantage of her ability to directly connect with things simply by touch.

Trades matrix persona is currently an architect. When she is engaging in traditional hacking, she tends to use symbology related to construction. She generally uses a blueprint as a symbolic focus for navigation and interaction. Her MARKs are small glass buildings.

Trades matrix persona is currently an architect who resembles herself, save for a number of arms dotted with eyes that stick out of the back of her neck.  As she places more marks, more arms lacking hands sprout from her neck and draw ethereal connections to them. When she is engaging in traditional hacking, she tends to use symbology related to construction . She generally uses a blueprint as a symbolic focus for navigation and interaction, but when directly affecting the matrix, arms sprout into the ether of the matrix. Her MARKs are hands with an eye on their back. Where it would join an arm, it trails off into the ether. If her persona comes close enough to one, then an arm from her neck will reach out to connect to the hand. Her Sprites look like little construction drones, but have had their cameras replaced with eyes that always appear to be looking directly at anyone who sees them. She can force her persona back into its old shape for a time, but the arms will inevitably sprout again from her neck as she interacts more with the matrix.<br>

Character Information

Summary

Trades is a matrix infiltrator and rigger who uses her living persona and extensive augmentations to help her crack systems. She barely has a spark of the resonance in her, but she's eager to develop the new matrix powers to replace what she had before.

Goals

  • Find a way to keep paying for her skillsoft subscription. There aren’t a lot of ways to earn 10k nuyen per month, so she’s taken to shadow-running to make the money. Maybe someday she’ll be able to get out from under their thumb by building up a personal collection of skillsofts.
  • Figure out how to form a PAN, if she was able to feed targeting data from her living RCC, then she'd be able to drastically shift the field of battle for her allies. Oops, that's embarrassing, turns out Trades could do make one all along.
  • Develop mastery over the resonance alike to what she had as an otaku.
  • Upgrade her control rig. She's decided to walk the path of the rigger, and a control rig is one of the greatest tools in their arsenal
  • Get herself a force 20 magical lodge. Just to style on all the mages without one. (Next attempt on 8/1)
  • Become a sourceror. Oops, Trades enjoyed using vehicles and drones so much that her resonance aligned itself to the machinist stream.

Crash 2.0 also drew the curtain on her career as a shadowrunner since her abilities didn't translate into her emerging as an early technomancer. As data was gathered on technomancers and their relationship to essence, Trades began to suspect that her extensive augmentation may have been responsible for why she didn't emerge like many of the other otaku. She spent the next 2 decades working in Retrofit's clinic as her assistant using their skillwires.

Narrative Significant Qualities

Positive

  • Like a lot of former otaku, Trades has a razor sharp mind. The resonance feels familiar to her even if it's a little bit off and a lot more muted.
  • She's a ronin. She'll never be the first to break under pressure, and she'll never leave anyone behind. If that means getting captured in order to stabilize a team-mate, then that's a trade she's willing to make.
  • A lot of matrix specialists can't move and hack; Trades can do both at the same time. She's not afraid to be on-site with her team.
  • She has a teacher who's been helping her master her complex forms.
  • Trades has a keen eye for spotting icons from truly monumental distances.
  • When it's time for a fight, you can find Trades already moving before others have realized something is up.
  • Trades has cut her teeth on aquatic infiltration missions. She's learned how to best cover her approach on water.
  • On her trip to New York, fate conspired with Trades in order to see her succeed. She's a lot luckier than other runners.
  • During her run in the ork underground, Trades proved herself capable of lining up the perfect shot with her drones.
  • Trades resonance has aligned itself with the Stream of the Machinist. She can see forever, and control her drones more effectively.
  • Trade's Armadillo sneaked past a Pentex HTR with the help of her team during their mission in Quebec, and she's picked up a couple of tricks to keep themselves hidden in groundcraft since then.
  • Trades is only a moments notice away from falling into the matrix and wielding her considerable mastery.
  • Machine sprites are kind of Trades' jam. She vibes with them and they vibe with her.
  • On her way to meet the mysterious machinist for a job, Trades smacks her head on top of her Armadillo's door knocking some Common Sense into her head.
  • Trades has managed to codify a set of best practices for her work when processing large amounts of data during her time in New Orleans.
  • When her team raided the Renraku-Yakuza wedding, Trades was taking notes on the different techniques used by her companions during their infiltration.
  • Trades has developed stronger infiltration skills with her anthromorph drones after successfully stealthily rescuing Feliz Argyle from the grasps of Mother of Mayhem
  • Aerial reconnaissance is also something that Trades is talented at. She's figured out how to best minimize her chances of detection during an approach.

Negative

  • Trades got left behind by her team once when she was an otaku. That hopeless sinking feeling she felt as she realized that there would be no rescue is something she can't bear to inflict on somebody else.
  • Indiscriminate murder? Not really Trade's jam. If she's going to kill a person, then they had better have done something to deserve it.
  • Clothes are a hobby of Trades! She's particular about her outfits, and if things aren't just right, then it'll put her off her game.
  • Did you know there was so much cool info on the matrix? Trades loves chasing down factoids and tid-bits of news. If someone is talking about something interesting, then she'll probably go listen to that.
  • A lot of otaku were weaker than their mundane counterparts. Trades is just about as strong as a particularly perturbed cat.

Allies

  • Funk - Trades and him road tripped their way back from Quebec with their stolen vehicles. She looks forward to working with him again in the future.
  • Retrofit - They've been working with Trades since their days as Ultrabyte the Otaku. Retrofit helped Trades find a new life after crash 2.0 as well as providing gender-affirming care. They were able to secure vat time for Trades to complete their physical transition in late 2075
  • Heward Smith - A frequent visitor to Retrofit's clinic. Trades has spent a good part of the last 10 years helping put him back together. He serves as the clinics liaison with criminal elements helping to keep it safe from the depredations of nearby gangs. Trades has served as his back-up during countless tense meetings.
  • Norville Craddock - Trades worked for him on a mission to steal some paydata on magical reagants from the triads. Trades was more than happy to give Norville first pick of the blackmail information she dug up while searching for Roxxy's boyfriend.
When Hextech offered her a job, Trades tapped Norville in order to get her hands on some infiltration equipment that she wouldn't have normally be able to afford. Now she's trying to pay him back for the favor and get themselves back to an equilibrium. After her trip to New Orleans, she spent time talking with him about the Shedim and other magical things that might come up during her time as a shadowrunner. During her mission for Hextech, Trades called in a chip and owed
  • Wusan - After acquiring her fishing boat, Trades has started living on the water. Wusan helps her dodge patrols and arrange for enough fish to feed her. In exchange, she helps clean up the sea and pays her rent in drams of reagants. After managing to pay her second month of rent, the trust between Wusan and Trades has grown as they begin to believe that the other will maintain their side of the bargain.
Trades called upon Wusan's aid in order to help her infiltrate during Hextech's job. She earned a spirit marker as a sign of their agreement. Wusan has held up their end of the bargain, and now it's Trades' turn to show that they can be trusted.
  • That's the Spirit! - Trades helped Casey develop their acting chops and build their street cred by helping them rob Trade's truck. The team fended off some actual robbers while Trades kept Casey safely in the back
  • Roxxy Sparks - When her boyfriend went missing, Trades and her team scoured through Bellevue to rescue him in time for his show later that night. They managed to recover him, albeit, slightly worse for the wear. He managed to get patched up enough to put on a performance.
  • Miss Amanda Jones - During her mission in Germany, Amanda and Trades seduced and blackmailed Major Wolfgang ‎Müller of the MET 2000 in order to coerce him into selling weapons to Professor Buhl.
  • Bellerophon-He hired Trades to hunt a rampaging dragon bear in Quebec. He doesn't seem like the sort of person who would help Ty hide a corpse, but maybe he has hidden depths.
  • Carleton Moreau - He hired Trades to steal a silver railroad spike in Quebec, so that he can summon a ghost train which will travel across the trans-canadian railway.
  • Camille Delacroix - Carleton Moreau paid for Trades and her team to stay with Camille while they were stealing the silver railroad spike in Quebec.
  • Andre Monet - Trades and company busted some fascists for him and gave him the credit. In exchange, he gave her his business card, which can help her get waved through security checks in Quebec. He didn't seem to ask too many questions when Trades made some of the criminal's goodies disappear.
  • Prof. Dr. Franz Andreas Buhl - He hired Trades for a mission in Germany where she and her team blackmailed a major into selling weapons to him. He got Trades a good fake SIN, so maybe she can do something to pay him back for that.
  • Corf - Corf is a good little minecart who can smuggle rotodrones equipped with sniper rifles into Canada.
  • Julio - The owner of a small diner in Montreal. Trades is hoping to figure out a good way to move her vehicles between Montreal and Seattle to take advantage of the soon to be ghost train.
  • Ramona - Julio's Fiance. She's a got an ear to the ground listening to the soul of Montreal.
  • KAPTAIN KILLDOZER - Shiver yer timbers. Trades joined the merry crew of the KAPTAIN in order to perform an act of piracy upon the seven seas during her inaugural mission with the Shadowhaven. The crew grabbed the booty of paydata and made a clean getaway.

Enemies

  • Stryker - During the mission in New Orleans where the team took out some Shedim, Stryker pulled a knife on the J during negotiations when things got tense. Trades resents him for staining her honor as a ronin through his actions. Her reputation was able to handle the stain, but she resents it all the same.

1 Until early 2085, she was employed by Retrofit as a surgeons assistant.
3 Before Crash 2.0, they were a cyberadept of one of the Seattle tribes, and led a brief but successful career as a shadow-runner. She's also somewhat active in trans BBS.
6 She's got some niche posts in some otaku BBS after Matrix 2.0 about rumors of technomancers. In early 2084, there's a brief resurgence questions surrounding them, the deep resonance, and the possibility of emergence later in life.

Shadow Community Table

Threshold Result
1 Trades is an up and coming novahot decker. She's started doing some odd jobs for people in early 2085.
3 Her symbology in the matrix is that of an architect. She makes adjustments to her blueprints in order to alter the fabric of the matrix.
5 They used to be an otaku known under the alias Ultrabyte. If you want to embarrass her, then bringing up the moniker she chose as an otaku is a safe bet. They fell off the radar for 20 years after Crash 2.0. In early 2085, she began making new appearances under the alias Trades. Nobody has reported her getting a deck, so it's a pretty decent guess that she's finally emerged as a technomancer.

Appearance

Clothing

Trades generally wears her green jacket, although a picture is worth a thousand words, so I'd recommend taking a peek at her profile. She keeps a lot of her devices connected to her skin in order to take advantage of her ability to directly connect with things simply by touch.

Matrix Persona

She can force her persona back into its old shape for a time, but the arms will inevitably sprout again from her neck as she interacts more with the matrix.

Previously, Trades matrix persona was an architect. When she was engaging in traditional hacking, she tended to use symbology related to construction. She generally used a blueprint as a symbolic focus for navigation and interaction. Her MARKs were small glass buildings. Her Sprites looked like little construction drones.
