Background

Born and raised in Bridgetown, Barbados Aleena grew up sinless abandoned, and alone. She spent her youth hustling tourists at 3 card Monty, this earned her enough scraps to survive her formative years. Just as puberty hit, Aleena began to show signs of magic. At first it was simple things, alluring whispers, a simple illusion. She began to spend time with others like herself, exchanging knowledge in secret, growing her abilities, focusing them. Her new found powers made her brash, cocky. Using them to manipulate the populous at a level far beyond her petty hustles. She eventually attracted the attention of the local Zobop House of Marinette. It's warlord Gabriel Le Cartere took a shine to Aleena and her brazen use of illusions and manipulations on the locals. While impressed by her natural talents, he was also upset that she was moving in on their territory. A rogue magician of this caliber must either been put down or brought into the fold. He extended an invite to join one of their local krewes with the promise of upward mobility if she fell in line. Her time with the Zobop was fruitful and Aleena grew her influence with them. She eventually took over as leader of her own krewe, a small but efficient gang responsible for "protection" of the markets of Bridgetown along with the occasional abduction of drunken tourists to enhance their secret zombie labor force. Hoping she might turn Sukuyan despite her elven heritage, Gabriel extended Aleena an offer she felt she couldn't refuse, the gift of eternal life. She would either become a valuable slave or a potent agent of the Zobop, a win in either case for Gabriel. Aleena grudgingly accepted and began live anew as a creature of the night, a banshee. Her infected status did not allow her to continue leading her crew and she was instead loaned out wealthy allies serving as a magical bodyguard or espionage agent. Years passed and Aleena grew tired of her subservient life with the Zobop, deciding to cut ties and leave. She slipped aboard a smuggling ship and headed for Seattle, a place she could disappear from the gaze of her master and find her own way.

Aleena started out a few nights dancing this paid the rent, but wasn’t really for her, she demanded the spotlight and she found that fronting a local chromerock band “Crimson Fangs”. Aleena’s strong vocals and classic retro look was always a draw but the band mostly languishes in subpar venues and underappreciated pay. She eventually stumbled onto a Fixer, Milo Edwards. Spotting her talent during a gig, he decided to offer her a place on a team he was putting together. She gratefully accepted and began the “luxurious” life of running. Her team was all fairly new to the life. Jackhammer-their muscle, Angi-rigger, Tweedle-matrix support, and Aleena rounded things out as their face and magical support. A few years in they were on a job, a pretty standard extraction and things went very bad. Tweedle hit got hit with some black ice trying to open the cell and hit the floor smoking. With alarms sounding Jackhammer and Aleena ran for the exit. On their way out Aleena took a frag grenade to the back, it nearly killed her. Jackhammer managed to get her to the van and into safety but not before getting shot up pretty badly himself. Aleena would survive the blast but lost a lot of her hearing in the process. Now recovered from the wounds, and maybe some of the trauma Aleena is ready to hit the shadows once more. Following the incident Jackhammer left town and Angi gave up running but decided to stick around Seattle.

Narrative Significant Qualities

Positive

Infected:Banshee - Aleena struck up a deal with the devil as it were and now walks the night seeking sustenance.

Mentor Spirit Raven - Aleena craves attention and loves to manipulate that attention with her charm and her powers.

Spirit Whisper - Aleena has encountered a mysterious Unseelie Fae spirit, one that decided to release her. The reason for this confuses other sprits and intrigues them.

Negative

Distinctive style - Aleena stands out in a crowd. She is just that type of person and she can't really change who she is.

No Man Left Behind - Aleena grew up on the streets and had a rough time of it early on. When she found her first runner team, she had her first chance at real family and she liked it. She doesn't want to loose any more family on a job.

PSC Attention-Seeking - Aleena loves the spotlight, and if its not on her she's going to try and get it on her.

Prejudiced Possession traditions - Aleena seeks to know her ancestors and commune with them and respect them but never let them in. To her a possession conjurer goes against her core spiritual beliefs.

Reduce Sense (Hearing) - When that grenade nearly killed Aleena, it took a good chunk of her hearing. She still has ringing to this day.

Symbiosis - As a Dryad she is connected to the land an those around her.
