Background
At age 16, Giovanni, being the stubborn foolhardy young bull that he was, enlisted with the Italian Confederation's army. 2 Years of training later, he was deployed as part of the confederation's efforts to restore the GeMiTo sprawl to confederation control. Alongside Francesco Romano, a firm friend and staunch ally, the two minotaurs spent the best part of the next few years fighting for their lives, and occasionally getting into a little trouble where they could. In the summer of '67, a bomb went off in the building they were bunkered down in, a brazen attack from the thugs running the streets. Giovanni bore the brunt of the explosion, and was incredibly lucky to survive it. However, as a result of years of constant bombardment and active deployment in a war zone, coupled with intensive surgeries to save his life and the drugs required to stop his body shutting down, his genetic material was altered and shifted. Whilst on medical leave as a result of the incident, Century (as he was now calling himself, after the 100 pieces of shrapnel pulled from his body), travelled to India, as part of a mixed-faith pilgrimage his priestly rigger companion had reccomended they take when they leave the army. It was there that, whilst bathing in the river Ganges, his body started to shift and change, though the full extent of these mutations would take many months to reveal themselves, they were obvious enough that when he attempted to return to the army, he was brushed off with an honourable discharge due medical necessity. He spent the next decade working for a variety of mercenary companies who were happy to put aside their misgivings for the extra muscle, notably returning to the GeMiTo sprawl under Llofwyr during the dragon civil war, though staying away from any who might recognise him from his previous life. Along the way he met Lt. Cmdr. Yennefer Kerregan of the UCAS Navy, who encouraged him to move out to Seattle where, at the very least, she knew some people who might be able or willing to truly accept him.
