“Paradise Lost” is intended to be a ‘traditional’ black trenchcoat shadowrun story where the runners find themselves in the middle of a shadow war between corporate level entities, culminating in a decidedly morally gray situation wherein they must make some choices which have no good outcomes; only ‘least bad’ ones.
During the first phase of approximately 3 to 6 months, the characters are hired by a Johnson known as Trevor Hill. These runs focus on acquisition of new tech, data, and information and almost exclusively target Renraku at various locations around the world; however, other targets are an option to allow some GM flexibility. Players who dig beyond the surface levels of these jobs will come to realize that all of it seems to focus on Renraku’s Digital Intelligence information and research.
During the second phase of approximately 3 to 6 months, runs may continue to take place against Renraku, but other independent Johnsons get involved with jobs -from- Renraku that are aimed at discovering who has been running them during the prior months, what kind of research is being stolen, and ultimately, who the source behind Trevor Hill really is.
The final runs of the metaplot, over 1 or 2 months, take the runners into some of the deepest shadows they’ve ever run. With HTR teams on one side, a shadowy organization on the other, and an impossible choice ahead of them, they will learn that it’s not just Dragons they should avoid when it comes to making deals.
