Character Information
Summary
Thunder who uses Thud as his street name is a strong troll from the Black Forest. He has a heavy fist punch but also likes likes to use his good target to distribute damage with his bow. If you're hurt and on the same team, he is likely to heal you with magic. His [mystic adept] powers accentuate his powerful and striking presence with even more power and accuracy to make sure a meeting becomes a memorable experience for those who still have an intact memory after making the acquaintance.
Thunder is eagerly looking forward to his first job as a runner.
Thunder grew up on a farm in the Black Forest Troll Kingdom (Allied German State – ADL).
His main interests are are healing and hunting with a bow.
Those interests developed naturally and early. Following a family tradition came naturally in the depths of "The Forest". His father is the local go-to for anyone with health problems.
At the age of 15, Thunder came to Seattle on an foreign-student & archery scholarship to a local high school which felt the need to add some diversity to its statistics and was keen on establishing an overseas high school exchange partnership.
After graduation, he applied to various local colleges and scholarships to learn more about magic and healing. Unfortunately, he hasn’t been accepted yet and takes on temporary works, such as a heavy lifter at the docks whenever he is short of money to cover his less than modest lifestyle.
In his spare time, he likes to get in the ring to earn a few extra bucks as a bare knuckle fighter. (He’s got quite a punch). An acquaintance however pushes for him to become a runner instead, claiming that would be a much more serious and lucrative way to risk one’s life.
Thunder sees the point and is eager to go on his first run.
Goals
Long Term: To become an experimental researcher in the combined fields of magic, healing, cyber- and bioware. To Earn serious money to afford a college education.
Short Term: To become a runner. Gain experience to become a great runner with regular engagements and income.
Background
Thunder grew up on a farm in the Black Forest. A very protected environment in deep woods. Daily routines included assisting with the animals on the farm and muscle work in the family forest. Highlights were bow hunting and assisting his father in healing injured neighbours.
His uncle Brick, who lives in the outskirts of Seattle and works as a taxi driver, overheard a conversation of a local high school headmistress who was on Comlink talking about how her High school was at risk of loosing funding due to the lack of diversity.
Brick seized the moment and pitched the idea of enrolling a Troll from Europe who was scholastically challenged by growing up in the depths of the woods. In addition, said troll would be a great athlete in a sport uncommon with young people – archery.
Said and done, Thunder got a ticket to Seattle and became one more spice in the melting-pot.
In high school, Thunder was a bit of an outsider but didn’t mid. The few friends he had were better than having to walk five miles to the closest neighbour in the mountains of the Black Forest.
Living in Seattle was exciting and still is. What a place! So many impressions and so many opportunities!!!
Narrative Significant Qualities
Positive
Mentor Spirit (Bear) - Not having many friends, growing up in the woods where some of the darkest classic fairy tails were conceived, fantastic things happen and friendships with nature are forged. Helping a stray bear cub survive its first season without its its mother was a great friendship which turned out to carry additional rewards in terms of spiritual mentorship by the ghost spirit of the cubs diseased mum.
Focused Concentration - Lonely days, growing up in the woods makes one creative. Thunder found an interest in experimenting with magic, classical healing and rudimentary biotech. Juggling those miss fitting balls at the same time taught him to focus on many things at the same time. It didn't always go well. Some scars and a very slight sulfuric smell which doesn't wash off can still be noticed by those sensitive enough - if they bother.
Negative
Day Job - Working 10 hours per week at the docks to gain permanent residency after finishing high school ain’t so bad. The gossip and overview of when, what gets shipped into and out of the city, by and to whom might also come in handy some day.
Distinctive Style - Taking on a new culture and fitting in is not that difficult. But seriously, wearing anything but Black Forrest traditional clothing when going outside is ridiculous. There really isn’t anything more comfortable and beautiful traditional clothing from the Black Forest. When things get rough and the clothing could get damaged, the least one can do to honour one’s heritage is to wear a patch of the black forest on the chest of the jacket and a large patch on the back. You fly your team colours, I fly mine. End of discussion!
Emotional Attachment & Low Edge (1) - Thunder never felt that Fortuna was paying any attention to him. He never won in a lottery. He never found a treasure under the rainbow... Until he moved to Seattle, when drekk hit the fan, it was predestined flying in one direction – Thunder’s.
So, when he received a ticket to go to a school in Seattle he became hopeful. The first event he visited in Seattle was a baseball game where he caught a baseball that was hit into the crowd. Everyone applauded and he was shown on a big screen!
So much luck in such short time! It seemed like Fortuna had found Thunder in Seattle. That baseball is now Thunders lucky charm and he wears on a necklace (read chain) around his neck.
Maybe his luck is not as frequent as with normal people, but most of the bad luck seems to be shielded off by his talisman.
Insomnia - Thunder misses his mum and dad. Especially at night. Luckily the time-zone difference makes it possible to call them on the Com-Link during the darkest of nights. Those long conversations in the whee small hours tend to take a toll on his rest and daily rhythm. Feeling jet lagged without having to pay the credits to fly across the Atlantic seems like a bargain to me. What do you think?

Trolls are supposed to have curly horns and tougher skin. Don't be fooled.. Thunder was at a Viking Festival at which a sweet mage made him look a little more like a viking from the old movies and less than a Troll.
If you see him on the streets, you will probably not recognize him from this photo.
