Background
Mikael was born in the city of Volgograd shortly after the first EuroWar, a time of strife, political change, and chaos for the Russian people. He watched as the AfA incited a second war, as the world tore itself apart to define who would reign as its leaders. He knew war all his life and when he was ready, he threw himself headfirst into it. He joined the Russian army in 2052 and worked his way up the ranks through year after grueling year of military service, first being inducted into the 108th Spetsnaz Detachment before becoming one of the few selected for the prestigious position as a member of the Spetsnaz's Smerch Group, where he served as an assault and heavy weapons specialist. During his tenure as a Spetsnaz operative he earned the nickname "Rasputin" for his seeming inability to die and was notable for his abnormally high mission success rate and, according to official documentation, an unusually high incidence rate of property damage and an above average civilian injury rate, making him infamous for his drive to complete the mission no matter the cost, even on one occasion sustaining injuries against more than 4 hostile shooters during the duration of a mission and on another detonating an explosive device that almost killed him in an effort to pacify an armed assailant. Supposedly his destructive tendencies caught up with him and he was discharged in 2072 during an effort to improve the Red Army's image in the eyes of the Russian people, although his exploits (occasionally embellished) and his willingness to sacrifice anything for the mission are known to many of the older soldiers in the Spetsnaz. Following his discharge, he was despondent and even depressed at his sudden abandonment and took time to deal with personal issues, some of which he still struggles with due to his extensive military service, for the better part of a decade. Seeing few other opportunities at the of the dawn of a new decade, he sought to remake himself and began training anew with the intent to make a name for himself in the shadows in the only way he knew how: with overwhelming force.

| 1 Hit | Besides all of the articles about a 200 year old political figure, it isn't hard to see that the runner by the same name started running in late 2080. He operates mostly in Seattle and has a reputation for physical durability with a preference for Russian-made arms and armor.
(If you have seen his real SIN or face, if not, treat this next section as 3) Further research into your Russian friend has revealed that Rasputin is none other than one Mikael Smirnoy, a Russian national currently residing in the UCAS. His history, according to public SIN records, is relatively unremarkable. He grew up in Volgograd as the son of a grocer and joined the Russian military after his family store was bombed, leaving him an orphan. He was later dishonorably discharged due to reckless endangerment and excessive property damage making him a risk to the Russian public. Besides these charges, he has no outstanding criminal records. |
| 3 Hits | Rasputin seems to possess superhuman strength and durability; coupled with the fact that he doesn't seem to have any magical talent, it's safe to assume he's some brand of razorboy.
Video of him in combat reveals that his actions and decisions are quick and precise, perhaps suggesting military training or some kind of skillsoft or personasoft related to combat skills. Unsurprising considering he is supposedly former Russian military. (If you have seen his real SIN or face, if not, treat this next section as 6+) His discharge was due to reckless endangerment, property damage, and breach of the peace, but, according to the military records you can get your hands on, Mikael Smirnoy was deployed as a border guard off near the Siberian border, far from any centers of Russian population. Furthermore, the acts that got him discharged took place during his leave in the nearby city of Vorkuta with a team that remain unidentified to this day. What exactly happened is unclear, but the resulting detonation of a set of storefronts caused the destruction of multiple families' livings and many others' living quarters. Forensic investigation and further research uncovered that the site and multiple residences in the immediate proximity were connected to an as-of-yet undisclosed criminal organization, leading some to praise his actions as a crime-fighting hero and others to condemn him as a violent vigilante. He was subsequently stripped of his rank as a soldier and discharged. |
| 6+ Hits | A person similar to Rasputin and the unidentified team were active in multiple events in cities across Russia, most of which have been either scrubbed from the public record or disavowed like the event that got him discharged. This team doesn't have a name, doesn't have any recognizable symbols, and sure as hell doesn't take prisoners, at least no prisoners survive whatever happens after. Just a set of black clothes and black helmets.
Once you sift through all of the detritus out there in the matrix, a pattern starts to emerge. Piecing together old security cam footage, redacted witness reports, and other very "legal" and "government sanctioned" methods of information collection, it isn't hard to see that whatever this team was, they operated in multiple cities in just as many days with mil-spec modded weapons and no flight records. That really only means one of two things: they're corp, or they're some kind of government black-bag team. Considering who their activity history seems to favor, it wouldn't be a bad guess to say government, which means a branch of the Spetsnaz likely focusing on internal defense and counter-terrorism. |

Appearance
At a quick glance, besides his criss-crossing scars, Rasputin is a fairly generic looking hardcore Russian with a hard jaw and a clean shave that you might expect from an army man. Once some of the coverings are stripped away however, it isn't exactly hard to notice that almost the entirety of his body has been replaced piece-by-piece over years of artificial augmentation.
Clothing
Rasputin dresses in black and favors tracksuits in casual situations and his armored coat when in more formal settings. During battle he dons a black set of modified heavy sec armor with a matte black MASKA style armored helmet.
