Summary

The Black Lodge is an influential, secret and conspiratorial initiatory group bent on world domination. Members of the Lodge are rumored to have been practicing magic for hundreds of years, long before the Awakening. It is also rumored that the Lodge consisted of members or ruled certain conspiratorial organizations in the past such as the Bavarian Illuminati, the Knights Templar, and the Freemasons. Most don't even know of the very concept, and those that have heard of the Black Lodge usually dismiss it as a conspiracy theory, nothing more. Those that have confirmed its existence often end up paranoid due to the Lodge's influence. A common phrase is 'if the person you meet is not a known member of the Lodge, assume they are. Always.'

Structure

The Black Lodge has a tiered structure in which each member is part of a group of no more than seven members. The leader of a lodge is also a member of the seven member group that acts as the tier above his/her lodge.

• The fifth tier is known as the Lodge of Merlin or alternatively the Black Council. Each member of this tier is an initiate with a grade greater than 10.
• The fourth tier is known as the Lodges of Morgana, and each Lodge conducts the activities of the Black Lodge across a continent.
• The third tier is known as the Lodge of Mordred, and runs the activities of the Lodge across a single nation.
• The second tier is known as the Lodge of Rasputin. These operate on the levels of sprawls and smaller countries.
• The first tier is known as the Lodge of Nostradamus. The smallest Lodges, they carry oversight on individual cities.

All total, the organization boasts 1,333 lodges and 9,331 initiates.

Current Status

The Black Lodge's influence in Seattle during years 2081 and 2082 has resulted in the dismantling of several threatening events and as a result brought the sprawl away from circumstances that may have upset the status quo. While there are countless lodges, especially at the higher tiers, which are unpredictable and unknowable, the local American lodges have kept furthering the Black Council's intentions either knowingly or unknowingly. One of the first tier lodges in Seattle is the Baroque Masquerade, the leader of which remains unknown even to its members. One of the seven initiates is responsible for the occasional missive given to all members under the name of Cromwell, but whoever it is, the other six can't tell.
