Overview

Danny Hoffman is a relaxed and easygoing man, happy to spend time with his friends and loved ones. He's also the regional coordinator for Ares's deniable operations, at the heart of a vast and intricate intelligence apparatus. Shrewd and calculating beneath the surface, Danny is always working to create the edge his company needs to rise above its competitors. Under his command, rivals are torn down, oppositions discredited, and secrets stolen. There are few lines that Danny won't cross to succeed in the mission, and he's always on the lookout for enterprising new runners to serve the cause. With a wide network of information and contacts, Danny can be a valuable resource, but be careful to not be caught in his web.

Notes for GMing

• Danny is easygoing and casual when interacting with runners. He tries to treat them with respect, appreciating the value their work and skills can provide. He doesn't give off an overly "corporate" air. Still though, he is quite competent and focused on the success of the mission.

• Danny is always surrounded by a hand-selected, elite, cadre of guards. While he doesn't expect to be attacked at meets, it always pays to be secure. He has many enemies in the world.

• Danny tries to be straight forward about risks for the runners, to an extent, both from him and others. While he might burn the team if needed, he generally won't hide that chance from the team if it's there. He'd rather have an upfront and relatively civil relationship with the team, something he's found that makes things work better in both directions. If the need is there though, he will hide sensitive information and do whatever is required done for the job to be completed.

• Danny really likes grilling and smoking meats of all kinds. If provoked, he can go into long talks about barbecue, happy to enthuse with another fan. Occasionally he might bring samples to the team. He only cooks with quality ingredients. He has standards after all.

Arcane Evaluations	Danny isn't awakened himself, but he definitely respects the destabilizing factor that magic can create, both for Ares and its competitors. +2 to Knowledge Tests regarding magical threats.
Dissident Watcher	Radical groups must be monitored and carefully maintained. +2 to Knowledge Tests involving anti-Corporate or Environmentalist groups.
Seattle Vice	Those slush funds don't fill themselves. The intelligence community is always happy to play its traditional role. +2 to Tests involving drugs, BTLs, and other illegal goods, as well as their distributors.
The Great Game	Pieces are found, pieces are cultivated, and pieces are used. +2 to tests involving the rich, powerful, or influential, as well as the methods to suborn them.
Orbital Overwatch	The eyes of Ares see all, and if you're lucky, Danny might share his access. +2 to Active Tests to acquire satellite imagery and monitoring.
The Ragnarök Protocol	In the greatest of crises, no cost is too great, no response too extreme. A measured hand is needed, one controlled, rational, but ultimately willing and ready. If the situation calls for it, Danny has the authorization to deploy orbital strikes, as well as other high-effect tactical weaponry. Beware.
